Politics: Dem Debate

Castro made himself a viable VP candidate last night.

I appreciated certain comments from the minor candidates, I mean I appreciate Inslee's commitment to making climate change the #1 issue of the election, but the reality of the situation is Warren was steady and Booker got a lot of talking points in and nothing else *really* matters. 20 candidates over 2 nights is absurd, even for a debate 17 months before the election (oh god). There were two people on that stage who could be President, and there will be maybe three tonight.

Castro definitely made the most headway from where he was (which was damned near Delayney-ville).

O'Rourke looked about as unprepared for primetime as any candidate could be.

Inslee was a crowd-pleaser and made a decent case for EPA head.

Warren looked like a professional among amateurs.

Gabbard fared well, but I'm still not sure if she was/is in the military.  Can you guys check that for me?

You might be right...perhaps some of those people are gunning for 2024 as well.

Errr, more likely they're gunning for a CNN gig or a book.  A precious few might end up in the Cabinet.  2024 will be Warren's re-election opportunity.

Warren as the POTUS?  That's some high grade pot you are smoking.

Harris and Mayor Pete ran circles around the other eight. Bernie was mostly fine, but those two owned the stage, Harris especially.

Biden took my example of Beto bullshitting through a book report and gave it a good ol’ Hold My Beer. That was embarrassing. It won’t happen overnight but Kamala is going to take over as the moderate candidate of choice, IMO.

Didn't see the debate, glad Harris did well as she is my choice going into this. She is not the ideologue that Warren is, but I think she has the toughness that will be needed to stand toe to toe with Trump.
