Chad Sexington Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 The UTES are gonna kick your asses so hard that the chips will come out yer damn mouths. Fuck the Fubbs.
Orange Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Beavs REALLLY need a split to stay on the bubble.
RogueDuck Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Beavs REALLLY need a split to stay on the bubble. You mean off the bubble? Right now the Beavs are squarely in. But lose both, and that won't be the case anymore.
All Hail Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 I would think so. That would mean they would have lost 7 of their last 8 games. A loss in the 1st round of the pac 12 tournament and I have a very hard time believing the committee would let a team in who finished 1-8 in their last 9 games. Their record would be 19-13.

glduck Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 conference championships in basketball: are they a big deal? my friend was saying how much he really wants to sweep the LA schools this week and take home the title. while i'm aware that we're in first place at the moment, i can't say winning the pac-12 in hoops is a super big deal for me. i mean, you win it in football, and you go to the ROSE BOWL (or better!). in hoops, you win the championship, you go to the tourney, just like the 6th place team does. and if you flop in the first round, that's how everybody remembers you. not for your regular season accomplishment, but your upset loss to directional cinderella. it seems like a nice accomplishment, but i remember our last conference championship (2002) team for their extended run through the ncaa tournament, not their league title.

I admittedly have a much smaller frame of reference to bring to bear on this topic than do you and others. Nevertheless, I remember when Tony was competing with UCLA for a conference championship and our last weekend was against the LA schools. I and other fans I knew really wanted that regular season championship irrespective of anything that followed it. Not being able to win it was a joyful opportunity lost not that it had any lasting importance. I look at the tournament championship in the way that you expressed.

Cal won the 2010 Championship but lost in the 2nd round to eventual champion Duke. I remember the Elite eight and sweet 16 runs far more fondly than I do that season.
RogueDuck Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Lute Olson was right, the conference tournament is a bit of a waiste of time.
glduck Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 it's had its moments for us, so i'm still a proponent. we caught fire in staples in 07 and it carried over to an elite eight run. our 13 sweet sixteen run would have never happened if not for winning the tourney to get into the ncaa's.
glduck Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 ucla doing a good job sitting in their zone and watching us miss a hundred open 3's in a row.
MrBug708 Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Holiday got benched for yelling at bryce to play defense
glduck Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 damn, i'll take a 5 point deficit at half. ucla shooting north of 50%, oregon missed like fourteen treys in a row, and brooks has more travels than points. that was ugly.
