glduck
like the '16 CU football thread, only starring a team that might actually win most of its home games. rogue, you're more glued in than i am. dakota prukup, all smoke and no fire or is there anything to it? i know jonsen has a lot of fans (i'm one of them) I just wasn't sure if missing almost all of this season would hamper his progress to the point where the coaches may again be forced to look outside the program for a qb. Card Tricks
If the Ducks are forced to go with Lockie/Alie or an inexperienced Travis Jonsen, I think Washington State becomes the favorite to win the North next season. Washington should be much improved and could be the conference's biggest sleeper in 2016. I'll reserve my judgement on Stanford until I get a better feel for Keller Chryst this Spring. All Hail
Why would you favor WSU over a much younger UW team who stomped WSU and returns everyone. Getting Ross back is going to make that UW offense pretty good and the defense should once again be fantastic.
KUGRDON
Much younger? Lol
RogueDuck
I'm not worring about '16 until at least spring ball is up. It's far to early, but we will have the top group of running backs and second best WR in the conference. Brown will also be back, who was maybe the top TE in the country before his horrific leg injury.

Favorable home schedule (see: Oregon, Washington, UCLA, Cal, and Arizona all at home)
KUGRDON
ESPN's 2016 power rankings have WSU at 10th in the conference. That sounds about right.
glduck
it's clear the coaches bungled several recruiting cycles at QB, so we will be going into another season with a big question mark. on the one hand, travis jonsen (he'll be a redshirt frosh in '16) was thought to be the the guy for next season the moment he signed, but he got hurt some time before W3 and hasn't practiced since. that year of sitting out has to be hell on his development. on the other hand, he was an early enrollee so he practiced last spring, and assuming he's healthy, will be able to get in another spring + full summer of 7 on 7's. i have no idea what he did; I have no idea when he's supposed to be back. rogue or papa or dtd or quack are all probably glued in better than i. i'd be shocked if we didn't bring in a jc kid. there are a few good ones out there, and we've seen two different kids (masoli in '08, VA this year) come in during the fall and pick up the offense relatively easy. i don't think you can rule out a possible starter that isn't even on the roster at this point, especially if jonsen is still hobbled through the spring. i'd be equally surprised if either lockie or alie get anything but a token shot during the open competition. i mean, we all saw what happened. they can beat colorado, but the pac-12 is not made up of 12 colorado's. neither of next year's true freshmen will be ready to plug and play. i have no idea what to make of morgan mahalak, the other scholarship qb on the roster who failed to sniff a single snap during our dire qb situation of mid-September through mid-October. RogueDuck
I'm not terribly worried about the qb spot. Honestly Jonsen had already practiced all last spring, summer and two a days along with about a month into the season. He'll also be back in time for this spring. In fact I think his injury could end up being a good thing for us. What I'm told is they were ready to pull his RS going into the WSU game and he would have started. Bison
Given that Scott Frost is now the coach at UCF, how does this affect the offense?

Returning starters is grossly overrated. There are multiple other metrics that are more strongly correlated to future performance.
glduck
sounds like the Montana St qb looking to transfer is considering both oregon and tcu. we might hire his OC, apparently his parents are tight with gary patterson.

You should hire that OC...worked wonders for the Ducks with a former New Hampshire OC...you know who I'm talking about?
Quack 12
http://espn.go.com/blog/pac12/post/_/id/96120/fcs-qb-transfer-could-be-a-perfect-fit-in-oregons-offense It seems like the Ducks haven't recruited well at QB lately. Recruiting, like drafting, is an inexact science. Mahalak was a four-star dual threat recruit, but as GL stated, for whatever reason he hasn't cracked the depth chart at all. Ty Griffin, brother of Taj, was supposedly another potential star, but last I heard he was practicing as a DB, although he's still listed as a QB on the roster. Jake Rodrigues transferred to SDSU (where he wound up third string), and Jonsen has been out for the season with his undisclosed injury (rumored to be foot-related.) That leaves Lockie, who has never established himself, and walk-on Taylor Alie, who reminds me of a WSU QB (no offense intended, Don). Dakota Prukop might be just the ticket for next year. Bison
he just graduated. would enroll in january. That's great to hear. I wasn't so sure about the Ducks being a North contender due to the QB issue but I guess UO should be okay with that. If Prokop isn't there in Eugene (I'm pretty certain he will be there next season), I think the odds would be good that the Huskies finally snap their long losing streak against the Ducks next season. When is spring football for the Ducks? I'm curious to see what uniforms they produce for that one.
glduck
prukop in the fold really changes the outlook offensively. i was fairly concerned with jonsen sitting out most of this year. not that he couldn't be the guy next fall, but he's got more question marks. now we just need to happen upon a defense.
