What's even more egregious is that the largest US pharma companies exploit a tax loophole that allows them to pay zero US corporate income tax...

What specific loophole is that?

The one you don't know of.  I thought you did taxes?

Obviously you don't do corporate pharma taxes or advise them or you wouldn't be asking this question and you'd know what Ireland means to the US pharma's.  I would suggest taking a gander at the 10-K filings that just came out for most Us pharma's, particularly the tax note (pay close attention to the deferred tax table) and cash taxes paid to corroborate.  That might clue you in...

The new GOP spending bill includes a 8% increase on military spending.  As in an increase to the biggest expense line on our budget.

Yeah.

According to the nut huggers we need to defend ourselves from the evil Zelensky, DEI, and BLM.

Social Security and Medicare both exceed Defense.

Phuck the elderly.

Better to bolster our military for the war on DEI.

Nah. Durban and Schumer are leadership. Peters and Shaheen are retiring. Nobody else is up in 2026.

They are a bunch of big cowards.  Go along to get along.  They are worried about an election in 2026 instead of what is happening RIGHT NOW.  Democrats suck.

Why are you playing this game of make believe where Republicans need Dem votes to avert a shutdown?

Can’t break the filibuster without them. Thems the rules.

And who set the rules for this term? What party can change the rules any day they want? So hop on your unicorn and beat it back to this land of make believe you’re in where the GOP needs a single Dem vote to pass this. They don’t. They just want them.

I mean, what a joke.  Schumer has lost the plot.  Do you think McConnell would have had any trouble with this?

Democrats should have offered a 1-2 week continuing resolution.  If there is such an emergency where all these departments need to be cut, congress should be working every day to address all this "fraud" and Musk should be in there telling them where to find it.

Republicans passed their one sided CR and then left town knowing the Democrats would fold like a cheap tent, just like the Republicans.  They were 100% right.  Democrats can't even stomach the federal government closing for the weekend!  All they had to do was offer a shorter continuing resolution.

The entire congress needs to just go home.  Maybe we should just be a dictatorship...they aren't serving any purpose...

And they have 10 of them.

Yea, because the Dems are weak, just like @Akkulapointed out. Now run back to the land of make believe where those 10 votes were necessary, maybe catch a leprechaun while you’re there and say high to Santa.

At least Thomas Massie, a Republican, had some guts to defy Trump and not vote for this bill.  Democrats can't even muster the courage to put up a counter offer or even have 1 minute of a shutdown! They are terrified they, the minority party, will be blamed and not the guy who is crashing the stock market and destroying the government.  So weak!
