My response was because I'm pretty sure there are Republicans teaching in the State of Wyoming in K-12. Just a hunch. Lol. Btw, the way I voted Independent in my district. SharkTanked Posted March 6 Posted March 6 I just don't know what the plan moving forward is. If there is a per capita stipend per state, this could be a good thing. Those states that already prioritize education will likely do much better. Those states who do not will fare much worse. I am not philosophically opposed to shutting down the Ed, but I would like to see a plan from Congress for how to reimburse the states. We will see a great shifting of tax burden from the Fed to the States. Likely the issue will be that taxes will not drop commensurately on the Fed side, while they will have to simultaneously be raised on the State side. Its like the cost of oil and the cost of gasoline. Gas is always quick to go up but super slow to go down. That coupled with a higher cost of living due to tariffs. I can see how Great America will get. This is where I am at as well. In states like Colorado it could really make it difficult on schools with funding pulled if they the Federal government doesn't allocate the same amount of funds or more to the states. If the burden is placed on the states, then in Colorado it will be very difficult to raise taxes to cover the deficit because of the Taxpayers Bill of Rights. Any tax increases have to be voted on by the public and so far the public has been very wary of increasing taxes for things like schools or roads. They will vote for sin taxes to cover those things like with the marijuana bill where part of the money went to school infrastructure but that isn't the norm. Quote
