Hey nothing like the lady who got Tombstoned on WWE leading our country's education lmfaoooo. I don't think even Judge or Cohen could've dreamed this one up. Quote
bornontheblue Posted March 6 Author Posted March 6 I’m fine with shutting it down and giving 1/4 of the funding they were getting as direct block grants to the states pro rata based on population. Apply the rest to the national debt. Idaho would probably see more in federal education funding than having it filtered through 7,000 layers of bureaucracy., 1 Quote
masterfrog Posted March 6 Posted March 6 I don’t know how anybody could support the DOE. It has only been around 45 years and it that time the cost of education from K through college has skyrocketed. Our scores have not improved relative to the expense. This is just about the biggest waste of money in government. We can do better just paying the service sector to process FAFSAs and let the states control their own primary ed. Utah doesn’t take the federal dollars and I don’t see them at the bottom of education rankings 2 1 Quote

You do know we survived as a nation without the department of energy until the late Carter administration. 1 1 Quote

I also know that the Department of Energy oversees a huge amount of scientific research. But getting rid of it is always easy when you don’t think about it. Quote

Hashbrowns Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Losing Pell Grants and guaranteed student loans would be pretty sad. Losing funding for special ed programs would be sad too (nearly 1/3 of that funding from Feds). I’m sure Idaho, a state known for valuing and funding education will make up the difference though. /s 2 Quote

Eliminate the federal management of this and give the $$ as direct grants to states.
