Swedish Posted February 4 Posted February 4 UNM stole the Memphis GM. Looks to be an awesome get by UNM. He had the top transfer class in the Group of 5 last year. 1 Quote
Bison Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Going from Memphis to the ABQ...is that an upgrade or downgrade? At least the guy will have Rudy's for his BBQ fix in addition to green chile. Quote
KingSpartan Posted February 4 Posted February 4 At SJSU we have a director of player personnel, Beca Perez. I'm assuming it's essentially the same position as Beau Davidson. If you want to keep up with your football team's recruiting, transfers, etc., find out who this person is at your school and follow them on the socials. Quote
LoboMan59 Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Well, he is from Katy, Texas, so he’ll be a bit closer to home… Beau Davidson, a former tight end and long snapper at North Texas, started his career as a graduate assistant with the Mean Green before coaching the offensive and defensive lines at Trinity Valley (Texas) Community College and Northeastern (Oklahoma) State. I think the trend is to try and build NFL style front offices to take care of all the personnel matters and leave the coaches to focus on coaching. The coach won't be involved in the player payroll at all. Obviously they still answer to the AD, and the coach is involved in some decisions but not the financial ones. We also hired a director of scouting for defense, and have an opening for the same role on offense. In addition they hired the ex-Steelers GM as a consultant to help get all of this organized. With NIL, rev share, and the portal the personnel side of CFB has become big enough that an NFL style front office seems to make sense. 2 Quote
Tripoda Posted February 4 Posted February 4 New age of football, UNLV have already hired one. I guess the AD managed all sports but football. The GM still report to the AD but have autonomy? 2 Quote
