At first glance it seems like a crazy move by Dallas. Trading a superstar not even in their prime for someone over 30.

It will be interesting to see how it plays out, they obviously had serious concerns about his health and fitness.

It's annoying to see franchise players always land in the Laker's lap.

I get it if you want to trade Luka away because you have concerns, but how do you do a deal where you get a 32 year old center with a large injury history and one first round pick back?

They should have received a bigger return for Luka.

This has gotta be up there for the most WTF trade in NBA history. Trading a super marketable/popular top 5 player who turns 26 next month and just led his team to the Finals last season for a soon to be 32 year old big man with a career of injury issues is insane. Even if Luka murdred someone you still call around to see what you can get from other teams first.

The LeBron-Luka Lakers are about to be must see TV whether they're winning or losing with this one.

I'm not an NBA guy at all and even I was like WTF. Mavs are a laughing stock. Some of their fans are talking about quitting the team lol.

On the millionaires becoming slightly poorer millionaires front Luka was set to sign a 5-year $345,000,000 supermax contract with the Mavericks. Poor guy might have to settle for closer to $290,000,000 over 5 instead while living in LA instead of Dallas.

If it comes out the Mavericks traded him to save money thats the kind of stuff that wrecks a front office's reputation with players.

They might as well.  Start fresh with Luka and build a team around Reaves and him.  Get what you can out of LeBron because I don't see Luka-LeBron going deep in the playoffs together

I don't see how Luka and Lebronze work together very well.  Who knows, doesn't seem like a good fit.

This has to be one of the craziest trades in North American sports history.

Vikings fans are having a sensible chuckle at the thought of this being worse than the Herschel Walker Trade.

Seventeen years later in 2007, the trade was still an easy target for satire: one ESPN columnist, assessing the impact of free agency on the NFL (instituted in 1993), noted that it had almost entirely replaced significant trades and by doing so "took away one of the greatest shortcuts to becoming a Super Bowl champion: fleecing the Vikings."[6]

The trade was detailed in an ESPN 30 for 30 film, "The Great Trade Robbery".

They're both ball-dominant and now they have no center when their biggest need was having a better center for when Davis was off the floor.

This is a move for the future, not necessarily to improve the team right now in the ways they need. I'll expect the Lakers to try and make another move before the deadline on Thursday... I'd say Reeves is a prime candidate to get moved.

I follow the NBA again because of this man.
