AztecAlien Posted February 1 Author Posted February 1 How do people feel about news sources and publications purposely not reporting a story because it doesn't align with their narrative? And it doesn't matter which side is doing it. What are people's opinion? Quote

SalinasSpartan Posted February 1 Posted February 1 I don’t read any specific publications. I just am sure that no matter what I read, I read it critically. You know, understanding what that publication’s biases are and whatnot. When a story cites an opinion from a person from some random think tank in an authoritative way, a lot times i will look up that think tank and see what ideology that group has. A lot times seemingly “objective” reports about things can smuggle in a particular bias by citing to generic sounding think tanks with that bias. Like you read an article that is “objectively” reporting about some air strike somewhere that kills 50 people, and someone from the Center for Democracy and Puppies comments about how it was unfortunate, but necessary and for the greater good. That is framed as the objective truth because a think tank with a generic name said so. Then you look up the Center for Democracy and Puppies and see they are a staunchly neoconservative interventionist think tank. Suddenly that story isn’t so “objective”. 2 Quote

Bias in journalism is needed to cover the array of reporting. I believe it was @NVGiant Waste of Time who shared this link with me a while back but could have been somebody else, but I know we have discussed this before. https://www.cjr.org/opinion/bias-journalism.php Quote
