This is the statement from Nevarez. Cemented and executed are terms she uses. And as a lawyer, I’m sure she knows the difference. I find it hard to believe she would lie so blatantly and at such scale knowing that her reputation is on the line.

SJSU football should try to win a bowl game in the next 15 years.

Hopefully you get to one in that span; gonna be extra hard though now that you’re in that new G6 league with those powerhouse clubs

Not at all.  Just pointing out that if the GOR isn't signed, she's irresponsible in claiming that it is.  Nothing to gain in that one way or the other for the Pac schools.  If anybody would have a serious issue with it, it would be UNLV and AFA.  The rest of us are just trying to keep up with the movie.

guys...not just you headbutt, did any of you actually read her statement?

Gloria's release said that a GOR has been signed but that it doesn't take effect until July 1, 2026.

why is no one mentioning that?

Sure sounds like the Grant of Rights is a signed and done deal by using the legal term “executing” so that ends that speculation. So there is no future MWC team going to the nPAC or anywhere else until at least 2032. I’m happy to hear that. The lawsuits should resolve fairly quickly as well I expect based on there being signed contracts put together by experienced legal teams. The only thing remaining is the media rights contracts being finalized and announced. The nPAC should get their 8th soon to end that mystery. Good luck to one and all.

Because it doesn't matter when it takes effect.  It's a done deal.  Schools can of course do all sorts of stuff in the meantime, but as of 7-1-26 their media rights belong to the MWC.  It does not mean that they have until 7-1-26 to change their mind, they're locked in.

Why does this matter? I don’t know how a GOR would work for the MWC that would be effective before such time (considering this is the date where the MWC’s membership and future media deal will take effect for the new athletic year).

As explained - you can enter into contracts that have effective periods beginning on a future date.  Pretty much most of the contracts that I negotiate have future effective dates (often times starting in the next fiscal year) but that doesn’t in any way by itself provide a party with a unilateral right to decide it doesn’t want to be bound prior to the effective date of the agreement.

Explained very well.

Hey, we’re not taking you and Boise back, AGAIN, no matter how nicely you ask. 😁

Well, maybe if you pay $17 mil in exit  fees.

No way in hell they are coming back.

Fresno maybe. They're the only School that hasn't burned their bridges yet.

The admins maybe, since they probably see this as existential...meaning they lose their jobs. But you have to consider the PAC schools not named WSU/OSU end up back where they started as the worst outcome. Meanwhile a rumor that a merged conference is worth more than its separate parts flies in the face of logic and likely came from a MW source. The MW worst case is losing one or more members from the group and being far worse than back to where they started. I don't think the PAC schools are really that nervous.

If that’s the worst outcome that the PAC schools ultimately end back in the MWC, then if you’re Utah State you might be sweating bullets that you may not get an invite back 🤣

SJSU have as many bowl wins as SDSU.

It’s funny watching the tables turn and seeing all the butthurt Pac fans.
Its like the popular freshman ditching their friends (and paying a ton of money) to hang out with two loser burnouts with insufferable egos, only to realize things were better before.

It’s also funny that SDSU fans are the most insufferable, when they haven’t earned it. It should be the Boise fans.

As I’ve said already, I’m pretty sure a Pac-MWC merger is off the table and will stay off the table.  But I’m even more sure that if by some miracle people came to their senses and a merged conference were created, all of the legacy Pac and MWC schools would have a place in it.

The question is whether all of the expansion moves already lined up for 2026 would still go forward.  Would UTEP still be added?  I think so.  Would Hawaii still be granted full membership?  Maybe not.  Would Gonzaga still want to join?  Probably.  Would GCU still be welcome?  Questionable, although the appeal of having a presence in the Phoenix market could preserve its invitation.  What about adding NIU as a football-only member and UCD as a non-football member?  Perhaps one or the other but probably not both.

I could see the outcome being a Pac 16 with Hawaii and NIU as football-only members balanced by Gonzaga and GCU as non-football members, and the Big West being made whole with Hawaii’s non-football sports and UCD back in the fold.  That would give the Pac 16 the ability to sell football content spanning four time zones to its media partners, while limiting travel for non-football sports to just two time zones.

I'm in the camp that the entire MWC should have merged into the PAC.  Now that it's off the table, I honestly don't know where the PAC is going to get credible teams to add.  To be honest, I'm surprised so many teams made the jump without a solid, defined group of members yet.  For them, its ready, fire, aim.

Suppose the PAC doesn't work out.  What teams would be welcome back?  There are some teams who have played fast and loose with the MWC during past realignments.  Not sure they would we welcome back, but I could be wrong.

It won’t happen and isn’t likely to be seriously considered by any of the Benedict 5, but every single team that left would be welcomed back with open arms if they were to agree to sign the GOR.  You don’t cut off your nose to spite your face when you have a chance to strengthen your conference.

The PAC will work out. Otherwise W/OSU loses its war chest. Cooler heads will prevail before it comes to that.

Both conferences will be fine. The MWC will move forward with our new members with a slight bump in revenue which will just mean treading water because inflation ate that up. The nPAC fleeing 5 will need the extra money in their contracts to break near even by the end of their first media contract period. WOSU will have a serious reality check to their new lot in life while still acting like the nPAC is still a P4. Everyone will be scrambling to generate new revenue to compete in this new world of college athletics. This board will still be a dysfunctional hodgepodge of fleas arguing over who owns the dog. Life goes on. I’ll be happy to finally be shed of BSu and SDSU. So win/win.

Nothing will be better than what the original full reverse merger would have brought.

The only ones to benefit from a reverse merger would have been the bottom half of the mw.  The 5 that left gain nothing from being affiliated with them.  The pac  tv deal  will be done soon and they will add valuable members that care about competing in football.  This noise about the pac struggling to get a tv deal is just butthurt posters here that have nothing else to do.  I would like to see Wyoming added as a full member and try to find a way for New Mexico hoops to join but I think that would require them dropping football.  Something they should consider though.  Nevada as well.

yes, all cadets, not just athletes, right from the beginning of plebe summer but a lot gets automatically deducted for various expenses...uniforms (some expensive that they only wear a few times) laundry and haircuts (whether you use them or not), laptops, etc.

Very true.  You pay back everything they give to you with your "monthly salary,"  Haha.  You don't start making any money until your junior year, and it isn't much!

Honest question to the nPac fans...

The day the breakaway announcement was made last year, if you knew then how this would look today, would you be glad your school still made the decision it did?

Rumors that the nPAC definitely won't get a $10M TV deal are nothing but that, rumors and the same is true of further talk about a merger with THE MWC. Also, nobody out there has even circulated a rumor that TXST isn't available to the nPAC as an eighth full-time member. Therefore, today with the benefit of hindsight, I am still glad my school will be joining the nPAC on July 1, 2026.
