I've had to run the numbers on my own family. getting cut in hours right when your wife goes back to school and oops! second baby on the way focuses your budget remarkably Sounds like that was hard. We adopted when we were more financially stable , but I get having to implement budget discipline. Been there done that Quote

A surprising amount of takeout pizza too, 2 large pizzas for 8 bucks each (at the time) was like 6 total meals, pretty competitive with cooking at home. On the other hand it has made every other time seem easy and secure. I also had a second job as a group fitness instructor and between only being able to afford healthy food and no beer and my only way to make more money was to pick up additional shifts of hour long workout classes.... I got freaking trim lmao 1 Quote
InnZoneU Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Sure it's easy to eat healthy on a smaller budget. If you eat like a fckn rabbit. No disagreement. There is also no denying the organic options at stores cost more, and the lean 95% ground beef costs a lot more than the 80% beef. Etc, etc. And there is also a reason why Whole Foods is referred to as Whole Paycheck. It is what it is. Quote

And no, I don't think eating "healthy" necessarily means "organic". I rarely buy organic. And I freaking guarantee no fast food joints, or even better restaurants, are serving 95% lean organic ground beef. If they are, you're paying at least $15-20 for a burger. Quote

azgreg Posted February 4 Posted February 4 One of my favorite fast meals is a burrito made from shredded rotisserie chicken, rice, cheese, and salsa. 1 Quote

My current diet has involved a lot of rice mixed with proteins - chicken, tuna, shrimp. And for breakfast, a big bowl of the world's greatest cereal - Cheerios. Quote
AztecAlien Posted February 5 Posted February 5 Two pork chops for $3.84. This meal cost around $3.00. Quote
