VandalPride97 Posted January 30 Posted January 30 When the PAC adds some direcrional schools and is not clearly better than the MWC, what happens to the teams that want to return? We've already seen how BSU comes back and it sorta blew for the conference, but what if the others want to return? 1 2 1 Quote
Brew_Poke Posted January 30 Posted January 30 CSU is the only one welcome, once they apologize. Quote
Chalsean Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Just a personal opinion, but I liked the Hawaii and UTEP moves. After that.. not schools I want BSU being in a conference with. Unless MWC can tell GCU, UCD, NIU that they were just kidding 1 1 Quote
Dealwit Posted January 30 Posted January 30 No one is coming back, they are all too excited to have the PAC logo on their field and courts. Even if their TV deal is not good, both Conferences will move forward. 5 Quote

There are no Schools in the MW with the viewership to warrant anything over $5 mil. The PAC Schools have fed and clothed you all for decades. Time to pull yourselves up by your own pants 3 3 Quote

Media rights #'s will explain the real difference soon enough. Then you come back and mansplain it to everyone. 1 Quote
VandalPride97 Posted January 30 Author Posted January 30 Right now, the PAC looks like a lateral move at best. It's a bummer because the PAC used to be my favorite major conference when it had great programs and pinball offenses that made other schools shit themselves. Now....it just seems like a wet fart. 3 Quote

The Pac2 are the red headed step children of a former great conference. They wisely skimmed the cream of the MW. That wet fart is what's left of the MW. The Pac has given them the gift of being more competitive than they ever dreamed of being, and some cash to get them started in their new life. Instead, the left behind fans insult their former Sugar Daddies and wish them ill will. roflmfao 2 Quote

Here’s mine (from a few days ago): I’m going to guess a Hawaii football home game is worth at least $1MM to a online sports betting company in 2024. That is roughly a 33% cost on revenue (assume 9% cut of $30MM gambling take, they would pay this to grow their market share). That would put Hawaii’s media valuation around $9MM in 2024. I think in 2026, with some competition, $1.5MM x 6 home games = $9MM with the remainder $3MM to equal $12MM. That would be the highest valuation in the MW. Peak ($12MM) to trough ($4MM), gets us a midpoint of $8MM. I don’t know how basketball is valued, so assume it’s all in there. This is my prediction if sports betting companies are involved. If no sports betting companies this round, then discount by 20%. Around the $6MM folks are throwing out there. I do think Hawaii is worth more than your $5MM figure. 2 Quote

Is the gaming market going to invest in UH FB ? Then, you have a point. Right now, UH does have a time slot with no competition. The divide is real. Quote

I think an exclusive Hawaii home game carve out could be an acceptable risk (or at least the conference Hawaii home games since CBS Sports likes our P4 home OOC’s) to get skin in with betting and a new revenue model. Hawaii can produce its own games via local Spectrum Sports. Would the gaming market invest in Hawaii FB? I was cautious about Hawaii giving up its special media deal for full membership; however, I think we are better off. Yes, I believe Gambling would invest in marketing and distribution of The Hawaii Chase Game if it were available - more than our other partners. And we need to use Hawaii and UNLV now to be an early partner with gambling before it’s open season in the 2030’s. Now is a bad time for Hawaii to not have a permanent AD (and we have a new president 3 weeks into the job) to promote our interests. I have no idea what’s going on. 3 Quote
VandalPride97 Posted January 31 Author Posted January 31 You guys need to stop worrying about the scraps the G5 conferences give and worry more about who you genuinely want to play and what would make football more fun. Otherwise, what's the point? 2 Quote
