Sorry, but kamikaze an army helicopter into a plane from Wichita? Gotta be an easier way to take someone out. Unless Charles Koch (richest Wichita person according to google) was flying on this shitty regional airliner I’m not buying it. 1 Quote

Why was an Army helicopter doing a training mission in the flight path of commercial airlines? From what I’m reading that plane was below 1000 feet. Quote

retrofade Posted January 30 Posted January 30 This is what my CEO got from a search and rescue person he knows that's working the scene. Quote Yeah roughly 20 very very very loosely termed “whole” bodies, and many bags of random remains, had to improvise everything because.. not a good play book for icy water mid air collision at night & getting 60+ bodies out. Cut fences and commandeered a parking lot and set up medical examiner tents and all, collected bodies from boats, put them in body bags for pictures, zipped up then to the temporary morgue area for all that stuff. They’ll be there all day too they switched us out like an hour ago finally. Quote
azgreg Posted January 30 Posted January 30 In a statement from new Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy: "It is not standard to have aircraft collide." Glad that's cleared up. Quote

The helicopter's callsign was PAT____ which refers to Priority Air Transport, while this was a training flight usually it refers to transport of high ranking military and govt officials. It is very common for the airspace around the airport to have this mix of commercial and military. This is a recent video a passenger on another flight's takeoff (last night was a landing) took of military helicopters flying near their airliner. http://x.com/Sa_Les_Ski/status/1884799783518298331 Reagan airport was supposed to be closed after Dulles opened. But Congress and government officials like the convenience of flights at DCA being only minutes from their offices. 1 Quote

I won't be surprised if Hegseth looks for something to bash the military pilots to back his boss. Or they will hang the tower controllers out to dry. Quote

That surprised me when I went to DC the first (and so far only) time. I got some cool pictures of flights taking off with the Washington Memorial in the foreground. Quote

One of the runways aligns with the Pentagon. Joint Base Anacostia is directly across the river from the airport and its runways. But as I said, government officials like that DCA is only 5 miles from their offices. No wasted time for flights compared to the 32 miles to get to Dulles. Quote
