Wyobraska Posted January 27 Posted January 27 It will be interesting to see how this changes AI adoption as it will probably be a lot cheaper for companies to start to implement workflows. I'm also curious to see if all of their claims are true. I don't know if that is a good or bad thing yet as the world is not ready for a lot of AI adoption right in my opinion. The social infrastructure to deal with the potential ramifications of less workers is not in place. I still think AI replacing human workers in a lot of areas isn't there yet, but technology is rapidly evolving and we as a society aren't ready for it. Quote

I love open source and if this greatly reduces the power/hardware requirements to implement AI it will spread quickly Quote

I would say the usual suspects worked the media to churn the market. But what else is new. Quote

HR_poke Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Its a psy-op. They claimed it didn't require tensor chips which all AI models require. Tensor chips are made in Taiwan almost exclusively. It's a way to get the world to have one less reason to defend Taiwan if the Chinese invade. Quote

SalinasSpartan Posted January 29 Posted January 29 I mean, if it is a LLM that can function with far less of an environmental impact, that’s just objectively a good thing. As far as “do I believe them”, I’m not any more or less inclined to believe a Chinese company than I am some Silicon Valley company that is perpetually involved in a round of fundraising because they just burn through cash because their product IS NOT PROFITABLE.
