UNLV uses it at Alegient and it's hard to tell it ain't grass. Aren't they going to be the home of a MLS team? I thought MLS required natural grass. Quote

I think there should be an MLS team here as it would do well with our large Latino soccer loving population but there are no plans for one. We currently have the Lights FC which are in the 2nd tier below MLS. They play at Cashman Field, the ancient former minor league baseball stadium in the heart of the ghetto. I used to go to some of their games but haven't in years cuz the stadium is so crummy and not suited for soccer. Quote

I tried parking on site once, never again. Now I park at one of those industrial sites on Valley View and make the mile or so walk over. To me that's faster than the on site parking. Never been to a stadium in my life with as bad parking as Alegient. We get there about 45mins to 1 hour before the game. Come in on Polaris, going N and make a right turn right into the parking lot on the corner of Hacienda/Polaris. Going out just turn onto Hacienda and head west to Decatur and back onto the 215. So much easier and faster than the old SBSB mess. I like getting there a little early to stroll in, get some food and drinks and then watch warmups. Leisurely day in comfortable seats, great atmosphere. Season tickets with on-site prices went up a tad for next year but happy to support the program and still a great value. 2 Quote

Not just the value of the seat, but demanding PSL's, donations to the AD for premium seating, minimal and expensive tail gating, and $20 beer didn't go over well with the fanbase. Even if the FB program hadn't nose dived, they would have had problems keeping attendance up. As to field issues, they are not the only School or NFL team that had similar issues. Many stadiums brought in the cooler weather turf and the fall weather stayed warm. The grasses didn't root deep enough and many fields had problems. JD even admitted they had over booked the field and have changed their policies. No events the week before a FB game. They ended the lease with the Rugby squad which means less abuse. Once, the field got a rest and the turf had a chance to root, they had a fabulous field for the Holiday Bowl. As much as I believe in natural grass over artificial turf, turf is more cost effective and more durable. I know SDSU gets a lot of abuse here for any reason whatsoever, that was just one more thing to heap upon the bonfire of hate. Not putting some shade like an awning was also a massive mistake Quote

Fresno switched years ago due to horrific amounts of rain on natural turf ruined it. We are now on our second round but when you look at the field, especially on tv, the stadium looks impressive. Luckily we had a alumni base that took care of the price and we had great connections with the Fieldturf company to get a good deal. Watering costs for turf in a drying and warming world also drive up costs for grass fields. Add in then the costs of replacing the sod every couple of months. I don't know if turf is an issue for the two soccer squads they have playing there. But, SDSU is going to have to make that $ decision soon with the pending exit fees. Quote

Historically, they have played night games. Occasionally, TV does force them into a daytime slot in early September. Quote

Maybe some beach chairs for the guys on the field. 1 Quote

This can be on your AD scheduling day games to get the bigger media money for the school. Lets face it, Snapdragon is like a frypan in the summer and should only schedule night games like Fresno does. That stadium should also invest in getting overhangs like Autzen, UDUB, and Reser has, to create shade vs making it look pretty at the spectators expense. 1 Quote
