I dont have football season tix yet but went to 3 games each at Alegient the last 2 years. The UNR game this past year was the first one that had the 300 level decks open, and there were a decent amount of people in them.  I think announced attendance was like 41k.

I think with the excitement surrounding Mullen that will get yet another boost this year as long as they keep playing well.

Just a few years ago pre Odom and pre Alegient 40k would have been unthinkable for UNLV football. Alegient and the practice facility have definitely helped grow the program, that can't be denied.

Fertitta money.

I have read you guys have a decent shot at the Big12 the next cycle. Tillman Fertitta (cousin) owns the Rockets, is a big UH booster, and wants to help the UNLV cause.

Vegas would be a great move for the XII.

Yeah, I hear ya.  Canvas has been hosting the state HS championships.  That pretty much covers the overhead for much of the CFB season.  Of course, there are events in Canvas on average of about 5 days per week year round.  Those generate revenue that we don't share with an NFL team.  I'm not pretending that there aren't game day costs, that's just a given.  We still turn a profit on every home game, even the snow games with light attendance when we're 3-8.

Now, SDSU is who has it going on.  CSU modeled a lot of what they designed Canvas to do after Jerry World but on a down sized basis.  SDSU visited CSU and modeled much of what they do based on what Canvas was designed to do, but saw an opportunity to take it to another level.  They're just getting started.  Snapdragon has gotten off to a rough start, but it will end up being a model for revenue generation in a CFB stadium before it's all said and done.  Of course, they're going to have to rethink their field.

SDSU's only mistake on Snapdragon was massively over pricing their FB tickets. Not just the value of the seat, but demanding PSL's, donations to the AD for premium seating, minimal and expensive tail gating, and $20 beer didn't go over well with the fanbase. Even if the FB program hadn't nose dived, they would have had problems keeping attendance up.

As to field issues, they are not the only School or NFL team that had similar issues. Many stadiums brought in the cooler weather turf and the fall weather stayed warm. The grasses didn't root deep enough and many fields had problems.

JD even admitted they had over booked the field and have changed their policies. No events the week before a FB game. They ended the lease with the Rugby squad which means less abuse. Once, the field got a rest and the turf had a chance to root, they had a fabulous field for the Holiday Bowl.

As much as I believe in natural grass over artificial turf, turf is more cost effective and more durable.

I know SDSU gets a lot of abuse here for any reason whatsoever,  that was just one more thing to heap upon the bonfire of hate.

I hear ya I am starting to get like that too (just turned 46).  I personally think Alegient is an awesome stadium but hate the hassle of getting in and out of the place with the abominable parking situation.  It takes me a half hour to get there and then 40-50 minutes to wait in traffic, park, walk over, and maneuver my way in.  That's like 3 hours of my day just getting into and out of the place.

Recently went to a soccer game there and going to the Aussie rugby league game there in March (if you've never seen NRL you should check it out, it's awesome!!) But I'd go there a lot more if it was easier to get in/out or if I was younger, lol

I think I've only been to 6 Rebel basketball games this year, I'm officially an old timer!

This is what keeps me from going to games -- I'm the old school arena / stadium type who likes a lot of parking around and not having to find remote parking locations and walk the 1/4 to 1 mile to get there

I did go to a Raiders pre-season game and we took the RTC Bus from Green Valley Ranch to Allegiant which wasn't bad going, but coming back it was waiting for busses to come & go -- but at least no parking hassles

What is the capacity of the lower Bowl ?

Have they ever opened the upper Bowl for a UNLV game ?

Yeah like I said earlier they have started opening the upper bowl (300 levels) for a few games including the UNR game this past year.

Think only the first & second bowls were open for some games

Nope! The upper deck was open for the UNR game, that was the first time I saw it open but I believe it was also open for Boise St (I didn't attend that one) and maybe 1 other game

Thanks - wasn't sure if the top level was opened - the 2nd level might be the best view

Allegiant is a smaller capacity for an NFL stadium at around 62,000 so I'd guess the lower bowl holds 30,000/35,000.... second level 12,000 & upper bowl 15,000/20,000

Can see the top levels don't go all the way around

Plus UNLV loses some end zone seats because of the Raiders field being moved outside & those seats get pushed back

Just take a freaking uber old man lol.  Whatever you pay will be offset by not paying for parking and walking.

I parked at the Orleans and then took an Uber there once, and the ride share area is a also a complete nightmare, especially after games.  Insane traffic everywhere and confusion as to where your Uber is in the sea of thousands.

Also I've been to a few events where the gates were unorganized and it took a good half hour just to get through that line, most recently the Club America- Inter Miami game. Very poorly thought out if you ask me.

A school in San Diego is a cheat code. Should have been good long before Fish.

The same could be said of UNLV. Failing for decades despite having all the advantages.

Until the mid 00's, SDSU historically struggled with funding their Athletic programs. They lacked the Admin support and  policies to grow it. Despite wanting to be in the Pac, they acted as it they were content with the WAC and MW. They failed to provide the resources to make it happen.

Hell, they played basketball in a horrible and over sized Sports Arena that was ten miles from  Campus. They played in an aging and over sized Stadium. Their facilities are now right sized and closer to campus.

It wasn't until they got a taste of winning under Fish, that they decided to get serious. Yes, mistakes have been made.  Chasing the Big East was stupid. I get they wanted to move up. The admin does suffer from old PAC level Academic delusion and superiority. They completely mishandled their Pac aspirations. Were even comical in how they handled it.

However, they have made the commitment resource wise to be better. They have a low admission rate and that hurts recruiting because the Admin wants the athletes to have higher gpa's. We lost Chad Baker Mazaria because he didn't academically qualify.  Fresno, because of the demographic they serve, has lower admissions standards than both Sparty and SDSU. Which, gives them recruiting advantages in football.

They got caught behind the 8 ball when NIL , then the Portal were let out of Pandora's box. The FB program has finally moved on from the first two years of NIL being $1k and dozen free pizzas for an entire season.

As of right now, JD Lewis is a fail. His two recruiting classes and this years portal look really good. We have five O-line who are all 6'5 and 330 plus. Apparently, he can recruit, the Jury is out in whether he can Coach them up.

Park at your favorite nearby watering hole, call an Uber. Have the same driver waiting for you post game.

Is there not a transit stop near Allegiant ?

Having the light rail stop at Qualcomm really helped with Aztec and Charger game day transit issues.

The same with the Jazz, BYU, and Ute games. UTA adds extra cars, more frequency, and later running times for the late night games.

Parking used to be tough at the Mack as well.

Now you can zip in 10 minutes before tip, park 3 rows out, and take your pick of ticket scanners to breeze through.

Perhaps SDSU will consider looking at turf for their next install. Fresno switched years ago due to horrific amounts of rain on natural turf ruined it. We are now on our second round but when you look at the field, especially on tv, the stadium looks impressive. Luckily we had a alumni base that took care of the price and we had great connections with the Fieldturf company to get a good deal.

They might as well. Turf these days ain't a thing like the old astroturf that ruined many a career. UNLV uses it at Alegient and it's hard to tell it ain't grass.

I just drive right into the on-site parking, 2 minutes. Drive right out after the game onto Hacienda and we’re gone in no time at all. Season tickets with on-site parking pass is a breeze. $25 per game seems like a fair price.

You must go really early cuz the traffic jams on Hacienda and Russel Road before games are absolutely brutal. I tried parking on site once, never again. Now I park at one of those industrial sites on Valley View and make the mile or so walk over. To me that's faster than the on site parking.

Never been to a stadium in my life with as bad parking as Alegient.
