Tolo Posted January 24 Posted January 24 That this is a down year for MW hoops. Everybody is beating up everybody. No one really has SOS wins that scream "WOW" We might be lucky to get 4 teams in the tourney this year. Its entirely possible that we are a 1 or 2 bid league. Is this a bye product of NIL? No more squads that develop over the years, just a bunch of guys playing for a year and then we reset? Or are we just that bad? Quote
Hashbrowns Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Bad year for everyone but the P5. SEC having 12-13 bids (out of 16 teams) is crazy - I think NIL is a bigger deal than in football. 30 bids from top 3 conferences. 1 Quote
8-Bit UNLV Fan Posted January 24 Posted January 24 So it has become the SEC/Big10 invitational. 1 Quote

The money in the P4 for baseball is making a notable difference there as well. I'm sure NIL will continue to widen the gap in all sports for the P4 Quote

The fact that I could see Wyoming pull a miracle run in the conference tournament tells you everything you need to know. They are try-hard and well-coached, but they are not good. 3 Quote

Tripoda Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Until UNLV, SDSU, and UNM become prominent at the same time...this conference is sheet. Hey one more thing, f*ck USU 3 2 Quote

Soupslam Posted January 24 Posted January 24 You have UNLV beating USU and SDSU then losing at home to Wyoming. SDSU needing a last second shot to beat Air Force. New Mexico losing to SJSU. In other words parity throughout the league. Except it’s bad parity. The top teams not that much better than the bottom teams. I see two teams at most making the Dance, three if we’re lucky, and none getting past the first round. Im not sure how much NIL plays into it. Although some teams lost some good players to the portal. However, I have the sense it’s just a down year for the MWC and will rebound next year. 1 Quote

Of the Schools that have a realistic chance at making the NCAAT, SDSU is the youngest. That explains their ups and downs. Two true Frosh, two RS frosh, one Soph, one rs Soph in their ten man rotation. The ESPN Bubble predictor says the MW should get 2.3 bids this year. USU and SUDS have a 50 -70% chance of making the Tourney. UNM and Boise are below 50% Quote

USU broke through last year. It's a shame the 2020 NCAAT didn't happen. Both squads would have made the Sweet 16. The top and middle of the Pac is stronger in basketball. The MW bottom is stronger than Texas State and Fresno. Quote

It’s a good thing. Rebel fans deserve a conference title or two. Unfortunately with the current makeup of the mw that just wasn’t possible. Unlv staying behind and being able to compete will be great for the university and its fans. 1 1 Quote

UNR with Musselman was too bad either. UNLV will get it together in basketball. The current situation cannot be maintain. It has to improves. Football is about to have a break out year. UNLV schedule is very favourable next year. The only P4 team UNLV play is UCLA at home at Allegiant Stadium. UNLV do play some good teams like Sam Houston, Miami (OH), and Boise State. Solid opponents but hopeful. Quote

Left hand compliment much? lol . Good try. We didn't stay behind because we want to dominate a weaker conference. We stayed behind because your home slice didn't think UNLV have the metrics to join y'all. Plus the pur$e looks good too. Good try though. 1 Quote
