running the US by executive order is insane.  Almost everything undone by next president who disagrees with it.   Just ridiculous.  If only congress would do its job.

Also massive sweeping orders hurts so many it was not even aimed at.  As in the Afghans who fought with us in Afghanistan and their families left stranded by the trump orders.

It is insanity and it needs to curtailed.  Dems and Republicans have abused it.  There needs to be more long term strategy.

The filibuster has ruined congress.   Trump loves not being able to legislate because he can do nothing and blame Democrats.  He should be lobbying for legislation and not running the country by executive order because of an ineffective congress.

Congress, well the GOP led Congress, has to allow the LOSS to do his thing because he's taken over the party  - The "fiscally responsible" republicans will sit silent as the LOSS spends millions in his push to enact Project 2025

Let’s not forget that President Trump was elected again because the American people are tired of Congress sitting on their hands and playing politics instead of solving problems. His executive orders aren’t about bypassing anyone, they’re about cutting through the gridlock and delivering results. He’s doing what he promised, and that’s why we support him.

As for this idea that executive orders are "insane" or get undone by the next president, only if that president doesn’t care about the American people. Trump’s orders are about putting America First, protecting jobs, securing our borders, and strengthening our nation. If someone comes along and tries to undo them, that’s on them, not him.

Let’s talk about the so-called "sweeping orders." President Trump’s leadership style is bold because the challenges we face as a nation require bold action. He’s not leaving anyone behind, he’s ensuring we focus on protecting our own first, as any good leader would. America has been taken advantage of for too long, and Trump’s executive orders are about fixing that. Plain and simple.

When Biden did it, it was called authoritarianism.  Now, a better word would be hypocrisy.

The difference is simple: Biden’s executive orders pushed radical, left-wing agendas that tore this country apart. Trump’s executive orders, on the other hand, are about restoring America’s strength, protecting its citizens, and keeping his promises to the people who elected him.

When Biden used executive orders, it was authoritarian because he was bypassing the will of the people to force through destructive policies like open borders and energy dependence that Americans didn’t want. Trump’s orders, though, reflect the will of the majority who voted for him to bring common sense and America First policies back to the table.

Calling it hypocrisy is just a lazy argument. Trump uses executive orders to fix problems and fight for the people. Biden used them to push globalist nonsense and weaken this country. That’s the real difference.

Talk about hyperbole. The Great Depression caused the United States to retreat further into its post-World War I isolationism, not the other way around.

Is that not what I stated ?

You are not wrong.  I’m seriously trying to have a conversation here so do with this what you will.  I have a problem with people coming across the boarder illegally.  Done the right and be vetted then I’m good.

Agreed. But, you have to staff the admin side to process the applications. Plus, a judicial side. Trump seems intent on shutting down or reducing those aspects of the process.

I'll try to engage you, even though I know you won't respond in kind...

Without agreeing that Biden mis-handled the border for three and a half years, the reason folks might be considered xenophobic is because even though we experienced record low unemployment during Biden's term, and even though we also experienced solid wage growth during Biden's presidency, folks still scream about the "border" even though it's having no negative impact on the economy. The violent crime rate also continued to decrease during his term.

so if "illegal immigration" isn't having a negative affect on our economy and isn't having a negative affect on crime, one needs to ask themselves, "what else could be driving this emotional anti-immigrant response?"

Rhetoric, fear, and you know what else.

@renoskier

This is one reason why Trump is serving a second term.

Three and a half years of ignoring this. By the summer of 2024 it was too late.

https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2024/02/15/how-americans-view-the-situation-at-the-u-s-mexico-border-its-causes-and-consequences/

"Just 18% say the U.S. government is doing a good job dealing with the large number of migrants at the border, while 80% say it is doing a bad job, including 45% who say it is doing a very bad job.

Republicans’ views are overwhelmingly negative (89% say it’s doing a bad job), as they have been since Joe Biden became president.

73% of Democrats also give the government negative ratings, the highest share recorded during Biden’s presidency."

People were labeled as being racist if they spoke out and got tired of it.

That's the problem with binary questions. We all agree the border is phucked.  We disagree on how to solve it.

You are correct Biden ignored it for 2/3's of his term. Obama addressed it big time. He is the goat when it comes to being the Deporter in Chief. He eradicated MS13.  But it wasn't enough for the Magats.

Trump wants to close the border, arrest and deport them all,  and defund immigration.  Easy, breezy,  and wins the PR game. Maga cheers that despite the consequences.

Moderates want better policy and more funding. It's not sexy and isn't easily marketed into a slogan. Most voters are turned off by the bureaucracy, and not interested in the details or costs.

Libertarians believe in open immigration.

Corp America wants things just as they are because they have more power over immigrants who are in a grey legal status and are despised by their host nation. Corp America has the political and economic juice to keep it going.

As to the racist labeling, the Magats have always had that attitude and Trump continually blows that dog whistle. "Immigrants are bad, criminals, degenerates, they all come from mental institutions, jails, or are gangbangers. They're eating the cats and dog." The Magats cheer and repeat those dog whistles. Yet, you can't understand why they are being tagged with the racist label.
