The dithering nonsense is coming from people like Al Gore and AOC.

The earth's climate is always changing and has for millions of years. We are still in a interglacial period from the last ice age, just 11-12 thousand years ago. If you're a believer, like I am, that the Earth is millions upon millions and possibly billions of years old, that's like last Tuesday as far as time goes. The Earth is still warming and the Northern Hemisphere will be affected more than the Southern Hemisphere. Drought is part of the climate in California and has been.

Except AOC and Al Gore aren't frantically posting random studies thinking they somehow prove these conditions are not related to climate change because it's very important to them for that to be true.

Just go all in and be a climate denier. It will be more fun for you. I bet you'll meet all sorts of interesting people.

The air quality was awful at my school today. Almost half the staff called out because of the fires or air quality. We have no school tomorrow because it's so bad. There were some awful winds in the area back in 2011, there just wasn't a spark. This was what fire crews were dealing with near Altadena on Tuesday

You see, if the fire department was just white guys and there was another reservoir in the foothills, they'd definitely have been able to keep those flames from spreading.

I remember the taste the air left in my mouth in '07 for days once the Witch Creek Fire was finally out.

I imagine a lot of you impacted by these fires will get a little froggy for some time whenever you hear the Santa Anas now. Nothing quite like an apocalyptic wildfire.

No, they just frantically move the goalposts every time their claims and predictions don't happen and deny any science that doesn't fit their agenda because of what they want to be true.

And who's denying anything? Climate change is happening. It's a natural phenomenon mixed with the human touch. It will continue to happen until the next change. That's the cycle that's been happening for billions of years. We know this because of research and science. A simple question was asked regarding where all the ice went just 11-12 thousand years ago in the other thread but was conveniently ignored. Science and research proved where it went, but the blinders over ruled the science. The Earth has plenty of time. Humans not so much. We are just a spec in the overall scheme of things.

Climate change didn't have anything to do with the destruction these fires caused. California had extreme wet seasons prior to this winter cycle that allowed coastal chaparral to thrive but not be contained around metropolitan areas that continue to expand because of policy. Once the Santa Ana winds pushed the fires into neighborhoods, it became a domino effect. The Camp Fire that wiped out most of Paradise, CA in 2018 was due to human error (PG&E) not climate change or global warming.

Yes, it's been extremely dry in California, but human stupidity is the reason why these fires are becoming more destructive. Urban sprawl and politics/policy are major factors that continue to be overlooked.

I know you don't like any research or studies that are outside of your box, but I'll post these again in case anyone else wants to know because I'm done engaging with you. It's nothing but ad hominem soup as usual.

In all fairness, as a self-described polymath there are a wide range of topics that are - to some degree at least - within my wheelhouse of comfort to engage in, due to either professional experience or something highly pertinent/relevant to my personal life. For instance, with my background (mathematician and data scientist), I was able to understand the mathematical modeling of people movement (via air travel) and epidemiology to arrive at the conclusion that C19 was already here in SoCal weeks before the first case was reported, so my wife and I could begin taking early precautions to minimize exposure. Similarly, I can also read the tea leaves with regards to large and/or diverse granular datasets to extract (at least some) meaningful interpretation regardless of the topic. And I am pretty confident I'm not the only person on here capable of reading a graph.

You seem like someone with a functioning noggin.

Google helps the dumb ones to seem like they are smart.  Like quoting the 15th century Chinese Empire or some dumb shit like they are 50 years deep in Chinese history instead of about 50 seconds deep.

Can't be an expert on every-fucking-thing.  Some think they are.

I think the highlighted phrase above is where some of us (myself included) take issue with your POV. This statement and sentiment only serve to downplay the very significant role our activities play in driving climate change as indicated by all the available data.

This data clearly indicates that man's activities have played a significantly greater role in driving climate change over the last century-plus than any natural processes. And this is reflected in a lot of the papers published by the same people you cited upthread.

You know I harbor no personal animus towards you my man. We share too many of the same roots (I'm guessing we are just 1-2 degrees of separation from each other - we might even be Eskimo brothers! 😀). That makes it all too easy to keep the discussion civil regardless of how much we might disagree. 🍻

Cuídate también parce…

Oh ya, the post w/the image was post shortly after I bugged out.  I spent the night w/friends in the SoBay.  The Evac Zone shifted 1/2-mi to my east before dawn, so I no longer have any restrictions.

As a crow flies, Lake Hollywood is close, so helos were making rapid h2o drops in >10-min cycles.

I hope things are going for y’all & your kiddos are sleeping well.

Bueno suerte hermano…

Stepping away from the never ending climate change conversation…..

your house make it through brother?

A drone collided with a CL-415 Superscooper fighting the Palisades fire.

Fortunately the aircraft landed safely. But it is now out of service and unable to help with the fires.

Probably some idiot drone owner wanting pics/video to gain some social media likes.

This picture is floating around on social media claiming to show the wing damage. The aircraft looks like it is the correct model. I just have not seen it confirmed this is the actual current incident damage.

When I returned to protect and defend my home, I noticed a drone fly over head while I wet my house and lawns. The direction it came from told me it wasn't a first-responder drone.

Like you said, "probably some idiot drone owner wanting social media likes. Not to mention, a clout chaser. I-D-I-O-T for sure!!

The Fire Chief said the city failed her and now has been sacked.

The Homested was just like I left it 24-hrs earlier.

I’m sure glad Lake Hollywood [Res - as scene in the open/close of the ‘Andy Griffith Show’]
is so close.   Helos were able to make rounders of h2o drops every 10-mins Wed evening.

Thx LA City Fire!!!

While I think that the Eaton Cny and Palisades fires may have been caused by human stupidity (homeless camping in the areas) they do have wires close to or cutting thru areas of them. Tuesday evening I saw at least two transformer explosions in the distance as I drove the home on the streets of Pasadena.  Most likely from branches falling on and pulling wires down.

The Hollywood Hills and Kenneth fires, I suspect pyromaniacs.

Correction noted. Those responsible for the alleged sacking have assured us it was merely a stern closed doors talking to and no one will be sacked.

Just heard confirmation of this on KTLA 5.

FBI is investigating and, to protect firefighting aircrafts, have federal aircrafts in the vicinity looking out for drones.

So it turns out James Woods totally lied about his house being burned down.  Shocked?  LMFAOOO.

Let's go on about fake news.

On another note, Jennifer Garner lost a friend at her chuch that was destroyed in the fire. So she went out and prepared food for the firefighters. She's real and kind hearted. 👍
