Fire Kevin Kruger. Free UNLV of that loser. Easy justification to get the pink slip. Damned eternal we are not. A good coach is all it takes. Never count out a real AD. Imagine there’s no nepotism. Make the new coach the highest paid in the MW. All roads point towards UNLV. Love the process of finding a new coach. Bet your bottom line that UNLV finds a better coach. Rice won 20 games in three of his four full seasons and he mentored four players that went on to be drafted by the NBA, including the No. 1 pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, Anthony Bennett. During his historic first season, his UNLV squad was ranked in the nation’s top 25 for 13-straight weeks and 14 overall, reaching as high as No. 11. He also guided the Runnin’ Rebels to 10 wins over top 25 teams during his tenure, including an upset over No. 1 North Carolina (11/26/11) and No. 3 Arizona (12/23/14). Rice helped bring two top 10 recruiting classes to UNLV along with a No. 11 class during his five seasons. The new Husky assistant also oversaw the development of Mountain West Freshman of the Year Rashad Vaughn who went on to be drafted No. 17 overall in 2015. 1 1 1 1 Quote

Tim Grg, Dave Rice, even Augmon's name coming up by some. Still think UNLV has enough to offer that a good coach could come in here and win and turn this thing around............if Gonzaga can do it in the WCC (like UNLV did in the Big West /PCAA) the UNLV job can be brought back.............plus Spokane is a recruiting graveyard for the most part, where if a guy had a national program going here at UNLV could recruit 4 & 5 star guys inside a 30 mile radius This 2024/25 NBA season has the following NBA players from local LV area high schools Zach Collins - Gorman Daishen Nix - Trinity International Jaden Hardy - Coronado Orlando Robinson - Centennial Julian Strawther - Liberty Also Gary Payton Jr from Spring Valley. As for TJ, he was butt buddies with the AD over at ISU and his hiring there was preordained, but he has sadly done a fantastic job there much unlike his insulting performance at UNLV. True, it's hard to get a job after getting fired, but he did win Summit COY last season, and they appear to be better this year. 1 Quote

From my observation, Boise State is very mediocre when it comes to making in-game adjustments against smart coaches that have schemed against their offense. I appreciate this staff, the lone exception being Duryea who can’t call an effective offensive play from a time out even if his life depended on it. I feel that way, as well. For the last year, you and I are seeing different things in Boise State athletics. Man, you've gotten soooo negative, which is unfortunate, because you've always been one of my favorite posters on this board. You've lost your objectivity recently and are hyper focused on the bad and not taking everything in. I pretty much stopped visiting this board mid way through the football season, because a couple of you made up your mind on the team over the summer and doubled down week and after week. No dialog, just the same shet over and over. Meanwhile, they made the CFB playoffs and won back to back MW titles for the first time. Ho hum. I just barely checked back in, and it's the same shet for the basketball team. I see nothing but Boise fans saying they would get blown out by UNLV. Hell, you had them losing by 40. Hyperbole, I know, but your sentiments were real. Reality is, objectively, Boise is a horrible match up for UNLV and was always going to clean their clocks. They'll beat them in Vegas too, unless things change from now until then. I did see you trolling Wyofan, and they were eating it up hook, line, and sinker. That's some funny shet. I was going to give a mid-season football analysis. The good, bad, and ugly… but then I looked at the thread and realized, it was completely pointless. So, I just kept it to myself. I'd love to talk about this basketball team, but there is no reason. It would be as frivolous as walking into church and trying to convince everyone there that God doesn't exist. Roughrider is still one that can still differentiate between positives and negatives, but I'm not sure how much he's posting anymore. Anyways, cheers bruh. 2 Quote

Leon has never run the offense or defense. He's a manager. He's reliant on hiring good assts. He's pretty good at that. Many have gone on to head coaching gigs. SDSU even stole one a few years back. That's very rare that he lost an asst coach to a peer school. Typically, he's good at keeping his staff together, because he gives them a job and then let's them do it. Quote

Ive heard rumors Leon never played high school or college basketball, but was a football player. Is that true? If so it explains why he defers tactical X and O decisions to his asst coaches. I feel like he has a great staff other than Duryea. Quote

How long was Mullen out of coaching? 3-4 years? Also can't discount the NBA level, guys like Mike Brown and Billy Donovan. 2 Quote

death Posted January 9 Posted January 9 I'm not sure how much Bryce Drew makes at GCU, but he just signed a 6-year extension weeks ago. https://www.azcentral.com/story/sports/college/gcu/2024/12/20/bryce-drew-gcu-extension/77101322007/ Quote The Phoenix Business Journal reported Thursday that Drew recently purchased a Valley home for $6.2 million. In the article, GCU confirmed Drew signed a six-year contract extension. No financial details were given. 1 Quote
