You just continue to gaslight.  Why don't you ask the questions as to why he was carrying zip ties?  To do what?

I get what they were trying to do.  They never had a chance of taking over the government.  Not even remotely close.  It is gaslighting to suggest they ever had a chance.  They were extremely foolish even thinking it could work.

I get you are good at straw man arguments no one ever made (see above).  I never defended them.  My point is that we were not seconds away from losing our country.  That line of reasoning is just red meat for the extreme Trump haters.

I have yet to see ANYONE here defending them.  Life is not black or white.  Shades of gray.

I have yet to see anyone detail what would have happened if they been successful.

They weren't successful, and they never were going to be.  So any kind of creation of alternative history is rather pointless.  I'll leave that to Margaret Atwood.

Are you forgetting that Democrats like Maxine Waters stated that protestors need to be "more confrontational", Rep Pressley calling for "unrest in the streets", Pelosi saying there should be "uprisings all over the country", Hillary Clinton saying "you cannot be civil with a political party that wants to destroy what you stand for"? Did any democrats call for an end to the protests and violence in 2017? Trump should have acted to stop the protestors on Jan 6, but you like to act like Democrats haven't been complicit and even encouraged violence the past 8 years and that simply isn't true. If you want to talk about the failings of our leaders in discouraging violence, fine...let's do that. If you want to talk about the failings of GOP leaders in discouraging violence while pretending that Dems aren't guilty of the same, then that I'm not interested in.

I guess my response to this would be wake me up when it becomes nearly impossible for a democratic politician to win a democratic primary without saying the 2016 election was stolen. That’s the current state of the Republican Party—Fealty to whatever comes out of Trump’s mouth, no matter the absurdity.

We have a duly elected incoming  president-elect who has been a border line conman his entire life, who spouts BS like he breathes, who has publicly admitted he seeks to demonize and delegitimize the press so he can use it against them when they write bad things about. Who has attacked nearly every institution of our country that has even once dared to cross him.

He’s convinced roughly a third of the country that HE is not the corrupt one, it’s the Justice Department, the FBI, the Intelligence Community, the Judges, the Jurors, the Grand Juries, the Governors, the Secretaries of State, the election officials, etc. He’s just “poor ol’ put upon Don who nobody likes, and they’re always so mean and unfair to him.”

Facts don’t matter, only what dear old Don says is true matters.

Keep up with the melodramatic take of Jan 6th.  Keep up the Democrat Party's divorce from reality.  While Jan 6th was not a bright spot in U.S. history, it most definitely was not Pearly Harbor, 9/11, slavery, and the holocaust all rolled into one.

Fun aside. I think a whole lot of hyperbole gets thrown around. From "Day of Love" to precipice of total collapse.

Bottom line for me is that it was a sad and pathetic day, and I think the actions that led up to it should have disqualified the man who spurred it from ever holding the top office again. Alas, at least 49% of Americans do not agree with me. Democracy is cool that way.

Except for the fact you are saying they were going to do nothing and totally harmless.  So you're creating your own alternate history at the same time lol

Never said anything remotely like that. But it fits your narrative so you go with it.  Nice try.
