Let’s not forget the H1B visa system that these tech billionaires love so much. They use it to bring in cheap labor while hardworking Americans get sidelined. Trump was the only one who tried to reform that mess. He stood up and said, “American jobs for American workers.” That’s what it’s about. But here’s Elon, all about "innovation," while importing workers who’ll take less pay and displace our people. It’s a slap in the face to every American trying to make an honest living. If these elites think they can silence us and keep rigging the system, they’ve got another thing coming. MAGA isn’t just a slogan, it’s a movement to put Americans first. Immigration reform needs to start with fixing the H1B scam, and I don’t care how "innovative" someone claims to be if they’re not on board with that. Pls post your source once you’re done w/that Kool-Aid. Tell us more about all these talented American IT pro’s that are sidelined. 1

The simple fact is we don't graduate enough s/w engineers/CS majors to meet industry demand; we need H1B workers to fill these jobs we cannot fill domestically due to the fact we have cultivated a lifestyle that allows our children the luxury of choosing to become art history majors. As much as I deplore the idea of a nascent oligarchy supplanting the greatest experiment in free democracy since Ancient Greece, Ramaswamy and Musk are (at least partially) right in their protestations - this is indeed a cultural issue. We have become intellectually lazy as a people, as we have failed to curate the value of learning and/or an education. By contrast, until this most recent generation, every kid in India could grow up to become whatever they wanted, so long as that career was either a doctor or engineer. So yes - we have systemic issues in this country that need to be addressed, and until we do, so long as there is continued demand in SV for highly-skilled tech workers, we will need to use H1B visas as a stopgap to meet demand. However... what I don't hear from Elmo is the understanding or recognition that this should be a temporary solution until we can, and have, roadmaps that provide pathways for more Americans to learn to code. When I see all these small brick-and-mortar coding academies, I feel like I am seeing a little light at the end of the tunnel. And Elmo and his billionaire buddies are in the unique position to help define policy to make that a reality. Which would be a better choice than getting into online flame wars with the MAGA rank and file. I've had similar thoughts, about how decadent and easy we've made life for ourselves that we have the time to sit and think and inevitably invent problems that never existed before. Simply because we were more worried about being able to feed and shelter ourselves. 1

Most do just fine following specs but are usually lost when having to do much in the way of analysis. Because they’re not taught to do so. Eventually they’ll catch up…but I’ll be retired by then. I've run into the same thing in the GIS industry. Foreign gis guys struggle with complex analysis and problem solving.

There is a racist element fringe in MAGA and it should be purged. It's not fringe. It may not be mainstream, but it is accepted and played to. Tell us more about all these talented American IT pro’s that are sidelined. Oh, so now we need a "source" to see what’s happening right in front of us? Open your eyes. American IT workers have been sounding the alarm for years. Companies lay off experienced Americans and replace them with cheaper H1B workers who are basically tied to their employers. That’s not innovation, that’s exploitation. Trump actually tried to fix this broken system. He put Americans first, plain and simple. But folks like Elon? They talk about “free speech” and “innovation” while using loopholes to cut costs at the expense of American families. Funny how that works. Go ask the thousands of American tech workers who trained their replacements before getting shown the door. Or maybe look up the lawsuits against companies abusing the H1B program. It’s all out there if you care to look. But hey, keep sipping that globalist Kool-Aid while MAGA keeps fighting for American jobs.
