Not really surprising imo.  B10 + SEC + Notre Dame, Florida St., Miami, Duke, UNC and Clemson is clearly the grand plan. Ha.  Just spit balling but I assume the 2 byes would go to #1 and #2 who would presumably be SEC and B1G schools.  It wouldn't eliminate the byes, but the bye rule of 4 conference champions

So, 10 FBS conferences.  57% of playoff bids are guaranteed to 20% of them.  7% of playoff bids go to 50% of them.  It used to be exclusive.  Now it's inclusive, but dramatically unbalanced.  I think the "inclusive" model represents much more of an anti-trust violation than the "exclusive" model.  I think the P2 are treading on thin ice and if anybody has the balls to challenge them there would be hell to pay, or they'd have to leave the market and create a new one.  No way in hell ESPN and FOX would escape collusion in that as well.

Personally I wish the SEC and BIG would just go on their own so I could totally ignore them as would most fans of all other college football schools.

ESPN will kick the entire B1G to the curb once they're finished with all the other conferences. Yes, even Ohio State and Michigan. The commentary during OSU's playoff game says it all - they were calling the game like Tennessee was up 30, just blithely ignoring what was happening on the field to keep pushing the SEC agenda in the face of observable reality. And after that game, they've continued to dump on Indiana and ignore Tennessee.

ESPN wants all of college sports to just be the SEC and nobody else.

There are going to be a lot of P4 teams thrown back into the 2nd tier.  Everything will all go back into the cement mixer on the 2nd tier level (us).  Which is why worrying about MWC or PAC affiliation right now is dumb AF.  Once the split happens, all that is going to change and we will all be in different looking conferences or divisions in a few years.

I vote just rip the bandaid off. 

Expand to 26 team playoff 

Big-10/Sec get 7 auto bids each

Acc/big12/mw/pac/cusa/mac/aac/sun belt each get an auto bid so 8 total

4 at large bids. 

Top 6 teams get first round bye. Opening round at higher seed, 2nd round higher seed, quarters and beyond neutral sites. Cut down to 15 other bowl games. So only 56 teams have a postseason.
