Bill Belichick, the longtime New England Patriots coach who won six Super Bowls but has not led a team in a year, will be the next football coach at the University of North Carolina, sources briefed on the matter told The Athletic on Wednesday. The deal is expected to be for $30 million over three years, according to sources briefed on the matter.

Can't see why Belicheck would want to deal with the current college football issues - NIL & Transfer Portal

It’s basically NFL free agency. It’s an absolute strong suit of his I can see him doing quite well with it.

How many times will the AD have to tell Bill that recruiting isn't a draft and he can't trade down?

I feel like this isn't going to be a disaster but I don't see the upside either.  Very meh hire for UNC.  If there is a stipulation that his son takes over then it is a bad deal.

Hopefully for UNC’s sake, he has a solid recruiting coordinator. He was definitely hit or miss in the draft. He was masterful with the salary cap, however.  At least the talent pool is vastly larger in College than the pros. He can afford to take a few chances.

Makes sense.

His girlfriend turned 24, time for a newer model and UNC coeds are as good as they come

Absolutely. Maybe she gets a discount on night classes too. Everyone’s a winner here

Wild.  I can't see this dude putting up with college kids' shenanigans and the games involved in college coaching.  It'll be fun to watch unfold. I'm down for it.

I heard it was bc they’re going to make one of his sons the HC in waiting…the one at UDub

If true belicheck has become essentially Hafez Assad of Chapel Hole

thinks NFL and College game aren’t as different anymore with the Portal and NIL. Will try and replicate a version of the NFL model

Quote

…"It would be an NFL program at a college level, and an education that would get the players ready for their career after football, whether that was at the end of their college career or at the end of their pro career. But it would be geared toward developing the player, time management, discipline, structure and all that that would be life skills regardless of whether they were in the NFL or in somewhere in business.…

…Belichick said on Monday that he has had the opportunity to "take a longer look at college football," noting that he feels there are more similarities between the college and professional game with the advent of the transfer portal, NIL and upcoming revenue sharing.

Belichick’s girlfriend will be the same age as his college players, no joke.

I think I know why Bellichick wants to go coach college.
