Maybe a little worse for Israel but a little better for Ukraine on the peripheries? 2
HR_poke Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 Depends who takes over. Going to rendition to southeast Asia now.

AztecAlien Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 This might turn into a Taliban type of scenario. But who really knows? 1
SalinasSpartan Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 If this ends the fighting for a prolonged period it will definitely be better for the Syrian people….. IF
azgreg Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 My thoughts and prayers are with Tulsi Gabbard. 3
thelawlorfaithful Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 Assad, Iran, Hezbollah, and Russia are having a bad time so yippee. 2 1
Billings Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 Brilliant move by the rebels. Russia is distracted and low on any military support they could give and Hezbollah is also a mess right now. Could cut the Iranian support lines to Hezbollah as the rebels don't like those guys at all Ali Akbar Velayati, a key adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, once called Assad and Syria “the golden ring of the resistance chain in the region.” ADVERTISEMENT “Without the Syrian government, this chain will break and the resistance against Israel and its supporters will be weakened.”

The rebels are already releasing items they are finding to embarrass Assad such as pictures of him in a Speedo. I wonder what they will find to release on Assad and Gabbard. 1
son of a gun Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 Assad seems to have fled, possibly to Moscow. And what forces he had, melted away and abandoned their posts. Even police in the capitol "noped" right on out. Assad is a piece of crap. Him being out of power, not gonna cry over. What replaces him though, is the real question. And I do wonder what the Kurds will do going forward. But Putin losing some key infrastructure in Syria, as well as Assad no longer in power, is gonna hurt long term. Makes me wonder how other, similarly situated, groups and peoples will respond to this. Armenia/Azerbaijan, Georgia, and other places come to mind. Putin being so occupied with Ukraine and diverting most of his forces there, have critically weakened him elsewhere.

Kurds already having some skirmishes against pro Turkish forces. This aftermath will be interesting to watch.

Looks like the US took it to ISIS while Asad was on the way out. 72 confirmed strikes on targets in the area including dozens of ISIS camps and leaders. 1
