SMU belongs in over a three loss team.

Man, the playoff has already been such an improvement over the past. I’m much more excited about college football this time of year than I ever have been.

 

It will all be great tv over the holidays.

It would be bullshit if they bounce SMU for playing and barely losing a conference championship game while Bama sat on their thumb, but I could absolutely see them do it.

Notre Dame will be no higher than 7. Texas and Penn State are ahead.

Bama is a better team than SMU. I’m sorry SMU almost ( and perhaps should have) lost to Nevada….

SMU shouldn’t be in the playoffs.

Nevada also played Boise State pretty close. You don't judge on close wins. 

 

Bama's loss to Vanderbilt is much worse than any SMU loss.

I see the committee dropping Texas & Penn St each about 3 spots and SMU shockingly dropping just enough to let Alabama slip in

So it's 4 from the Big 10, 3 (or 4) from the SEC, 1 for Notre Dame, 1 from the Big 12, 1 from MW, and 1 (or 2) from the ACC?

That seems about normal. The haves and the have-nots. When are they going to force Notre Dame to join a conference?

Let's also not overlook Alabama getting stomped by 6-5 Oklahoma. Alabama is a talented team; the best money can buy. But Alabama is neither as disciplined nor as well coached as they have been in the past.

SMU on the other hand kicked ass in a down ACC, winning convincingly in most games. I'd have them in over Alabama based on their overall record, and the competitive way they played "week in and week out" as they used to say.

The preseason rankings have so much power over the perceived Strength of Schedule. The SEC and Big 10 were overrated this year, but benefited by the perception that they had 15 of the top 25 teams to begin the season.

There should be no rankings until the third week.

I think that Boise will match up well with the winner of Penn State versus SMU. The best thing about the bye is they'll beat each other up while Boise gets rest and healthier.
