I have to say that Chef’s post stating that you’re Maynard resonates. You tossing out enough cryptic nonsense suggesting you know more about everything than everybody else without ever supplying any support is certainly consistent with the Maytard brand, so congrats on that.

The Ugly American trope exists for a reason. I would always go out of my way to be as good an ambassador of my homeland as possible when abroad to do my small part in trying to reverse that perception (except when I didn't 😬). But as others have said, this is not exclusive to America or Americans, and there are certified-fresh fucktards from all over this planet. I once chased off a family of German twats from the elephant seal mating colony near San Simeon because they were harassing and taunting the seals by throwing shit at them, etc. And you'd be hard-pressed to find a monument of national importance in India that hasn't been tagged... by Indians. We're just a dumb and inherently self-destructive species that requires guardrails on guardrails to keep ourselves from driving off a cliff.

That being said, I believe you're not truly an expat until you've had shit go somewhat sideways in your new home; until then it's just like how every place of business seems to excel at customer service while things are going right.
