So, I have 4 neighbors who have dogs they let out in the morning.

Neighbor 1 lets his dog out at around 4:30 every morning to shit or whatever but it runs around barking for 30 minutes waking me up every time.  Neighbors 2-4 let their dogs out around 6:30 and they bark FOR HOURS, just barking at eachother until about 9.

I talked to neighbor one and with the 4:30 barking dog and he got super aggressive.  He leaves for work at 5 AM and says it's the only time he can let his dog out to shit and piss and whatever.

The other neighbors I can't identify exactly where they are coming from.  It's like a block away but they barking FOR HOURS in the early morning.

I used to love dogs, I am starting to hate them lol.

How would you deal with this?

Remember the episode of Seinfeld where Elaine couldn't sleep because of a barking dog so Kramer and Newman took it way out into the country and left it there,  but it somehow found it's way back. Don't do that!

My idea was tossing a Tbone soaked in antifreeze in their yard....JK....kinda...seriously fuck some dog owners.

At least in the meantime before you figure out some other solution, you could try playing a white noise or rain sounds playlist on Spotify loud enough that it drowns them out. This is what I've done when I've had loud neighbors.

Sounds like my neighbor, he's a boomer that thinks he owns the neighborhood. They have a pug that I want to kick into orbit because whenever they let him out he attacks the fence when our dog is out in our backyard. I tried to confront him about it, but he blames my dog for instigating when I know for a fact that his dog attacks the fence first.

My advice maybe throw over a chew that has some melatonin or some sleep aid in it. Lol

that's what our neighbors did to my dog when I was in kindergarten

it broke my heart. but after 30 years of reflection, that was a bad dog that barked all the time and was too rough on kids like me and my cousins. my cousins were terrified of him. shitty thing of them to do but our next dog, while kind of a pain in the ass, was a lot better dog.

don't you have a very flexible work schedule? Just say hey man. I just want some sleep. You need me to let your dog out at 7:30 instead of 4:30? I'll do that. Hell I'll give your dog a walk at noon too. I'll do it for free. I just wanna sleep past 5.

Does your county animal control have an actionable mechanism for barking dog complaints? Here, there is something similar to a three strikes policy - the first time you have a barking dog complain filed against you, you receive a courtesy notice from county animal control. The second time, you receive a warning of an impending fine and confiscation of the animal. The third time - which requires a second neighbor from a different address to cosign - they take the dog.

When I first addressed this with such a neighbor I suggested they use bark collars, which they started to do. Provided they kept fresh charges/batteries in those things, they ere effective. Which they didn't do. I increasingly became an asshole about it until they modified their asshole dog husbandry habits.

I would try talking again to the neighbor. If that doesn't work then bust out a huge sound system bring it outside and play a recording of a barking dog at 200 decibels for hours until they agree to stop that shit.

Or you could talk to police, but that's my last resort. Most places have nuisance ordinances in place for dickheads who don't care about their animals.

Well, I would recommend going out between 2 and 3am and barking like a dog, but I'm not sure the disturbing the peace charge is worth it. True story.

Honestly, something along these lines isn't the worst idea.

If the dude leaves for work early, then he is probably going to sleep early.

Find something you can do at night that will bother him with noise but that is within your rights as a property owner. Do it every night. He'll get the point pretty quick.

When we were dating, my wife had a studio apartment. That apartment shared a wall wit the living room of some bartender. Dude seemed cool when he first moved in, and was like - hey, if it's ever to loud over here, just knock on the wall and we'll keep it down.

Well after a few months, he started coming home on weeknights and bringing people over - music, movies, loud talking. So it would be literally impossible to sleep at 3 am in her apartment. And I was living with a couple drug addicts at the time, so I mainly stayed at her place. For the first couple times, we knocked on the wall politely and he'd turn it down. Then at some point when we did it, he and whomever he had over knocked back and laughed.

So, after that, I took my pretty substantial stereo system over to her place. And whenever he did that, I'd get up with my wife when she was going to work (around 7 am) and while she was getting ready to go to work I'd turn the speakers against the wall and blast hardcore music like Botch and Refused and Atari Teenage Riot. Then I'd get ready for work (which at the time started closer to 10) while it was playing. I'd stop right before I walked out (9:45 am or so), and when I did it he'd almost always be out smoking a cigarette after he slept for maybe 3 hours. I'd wave and say, "Hey, late night last night, huh?"

He kept it down after that.

I'm not proud of what I'm about to admit....but it was effective, almost immediately.

I split some hot dogs on the top , not all the way through.  Put some cayenne pepper in the split.

Waited for the dogs to come to the fence and start their shit...threw pieces over the fence.

Dogs gobbled the hot dog pieces before the cayenne could hit.

They rarely barked in the back yard again.

Buy four bark collars and leave them on the door step of each neighbor. If they don’t get the message the cayenne hot dog will work as will a soft powered BB gun that doesn’t injure the dog but sends a message.  Make sure you look at local laws and that discharging a BB gun in your yard is acceptable. It should be in Boise.  The neighbors will get the message and you’ll likely not be liable for anything so long as you don’t injure the dogs.

I abhor dog owners who haven’t taken the time to train their dogs for OB at the very least. I’ve owned dogs who barked once in my backyard and I put the bark collar on them asap and it fixed the problem. I’ve got a cunt across the street from me who attempts to “save” Great Pyrenees dogs and she refuses to train them not to bark and it drives me insane. They are far enough away to where I can’t hear them if I’m in my house but it’s the lack of courtesy to the neighbors that pisses me off.
