UNLV and Allegiant are trying to get a charter together. Most the people I spoke with said they weren’t going as the flights were $600+ RT. Luckily I bought mine after we beat SJSU. Sucks as Las Vegas would have sent some people to the game. Curious how many will be in attendance. It was sold out this morning when I checked. Those tickets returned will go quick. It will be a great atmosphere. Quote
bornontheblue Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 This may have been discussed upthread but where do the proceeds of the game go to? Reimburse UNLV for travel , and BSU for hosting and return any left over to the conference? Quote
Jersey Rebels Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 Is this the biggest mountain west game, in terms of result importance, of all time? The only other game close, the Boise Nevada game, wasn’t a Mountain West one. Nor were the BCS bowls. I can’t think of another near equal. 2 Quote

That was the whole purpose of these championship games to make money for the conference office, same for basketball. Quote

They then pay for the visiting teams travel costs and the hosting teams operational costs. Boise will get a few peanuts from concessions and private advertising. The rest gets put into the total revenue distribution pool. IIRC the MWCCG was worth approx 5 million. So maybe 3 million or so left over goes to the revenue distribution pool. Quote

Of the top of my head, it is on part with at least 3 other games: Utah v TCU 2008, resulting in Utah to the Sugar Bowl v Bama.. Utah v TCU 2009, resulting in TCU v Boise at Fiesta (1st time 2 G5s at BCS). Both were very important. 2010 TCU was more dominant, and no single MWC game mattered as much, before TCU went to the Rose Bowl and beat Wisconsin and finished #2 in the AP, so maybe only 2 MWC games. So, for significance, this MWC game is in the same ballpark. Definitely most significant in the MWC 2.0 era. Go Rebels! Quote

Risk of career ending injury probably makes it not worth it Quote

I think $5mm is too high. The entire tv deal pays $39mm and for the most recently reported year total conference revenue was $75mm. The expenses incurred by the conference for the FB championship game were $728,000 in FY23. To put it in context, the FY23 BBall conference tourney generated $2.7mm in revenue and just $100,000 in profits to the conference. I'd bet the revenue is around $3mm and expenses around $1mm so the conference makes around $2mm. Boise should have riders on stadium signage agreements that stipulate an extra amount due from sponsors if there are extra football games. I'd guess low six figures there. And the concession per capita split is probably around $10-15/person so around $500,000 for Boise. I bet in total Boise makes close to $1mm from hosting the game. 1 Quote

I can't(won't spend the time trying) find the tweet nor remember well enough if the source was reputable. But I remember reading the 5 mil number as projected and that was years ago. The break down IIRC was fox agreeing to pay 3 mil for the game and air it on big fox and then the estimated ticket sales and sponsorships. CCGs were/are a big money maker. I think 5 mil as about right. Quote

bornontheblue Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 In the Monday presser Koetter was going on and on about why he rarely uses screen plays because “ we aren’t good at them” expect a steady diet of screen passes to Lauter and Jeanty , lol Quote
Rebels18 Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 The most pivotal G5 in College Football game in history, and it's UNLV' to win to send them into the playoff. Something your peasant football programs can only dream of achieving but never will. Only UNLV could destined for this type of greatness, while the rest of you watch in awe. Just as we are your superiors because you're Natty-less peasants, you will also be playoff-less plebs! Quote
CV147 Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 My take is that if Boise State can't beat UNLV at home, in front of a sell-out crowd, then they obviously never belonged in the playoff. But Boise took care of business in Las Vegas, and if they are who I think they are, they will stomp the Rebels on the Blue. Go Broncos! Quote
Bison Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 Jeanty should just go to the NFL after this season because the body only has so much mileage and that is the same argument I'm applying to Travis Hunter who already said he's going to the NFL after this season even if he could come back for his senior season. 1 Quote
