This Economist has it right

Basically says that Americans are pissed becuase the American dream is dead and they cannot afford their lives anymore.  This is a 5 decade problem and not just since covid.   Inflation pushed many over the edge.   Donald Trump won't solve anything and will just find scapegoats but will only tinker sound the edges and scapegoat people and issues that won't solve anything.  He will just do giant tax cuts that drive up the deficit and have been proverb ineffective to solve these issues multiple times this Century.

In the past 50 years there have been 6 and 7 presidential terms by democrats and GOP, respectively.  Both parties have fucked this up so I don't get why just the Dems have to self reflect.  The two sides of our political system is the same coin.  Fucking up a good thing for the many for money and power of the few…just take a different angle at it.  
It is not inaccurate that Trump’s so called plan will only worsen the situation.  His Tariff idea is horrible alone.

The tariff "plan" is not about tariffs.  It is about illegal immigration.  Canada and Mexico will cave.  I think carrots work better, but Trump prefers sticks.  As for China...I have no idea what the game plan is there.  I have been forced to do some consulting in China.  They don't play fair.

Ummmm....because they lost.  I think inflation was the biggest factor, but Americans have been clear they are tired of the Democrats preaching.  The number one issue for swing voters in swing states was trans, where Democrats insist on saying up is down and the sky is not blue.  It is odd how things have swapped.  The Democrats have now become the Republicans of the 80s.  Here are the things you can do and here are the things you can't do.  Here are the things you can say, and here are the things you can't say.  The Republicans are now the party of just leave us alone.  I agree that both have messed things up.  The Republicans used to at least care about the deficit when a Democrat was president.  The debt, in my opinion, is our real number one issue and both parties won't touch it.  Too many Americans like their free goodies.

I see your point better and the left definitely needs to self reflect.  But I’ll counter the GOP has a good act of “just leave us alone” when in reality they are telling people what to do, what’s right and what to think…..I don’t see much of a difference there.

I think we see a double digit Trillion dollar deficit at the end of Trumps term….and that doesn’t include tariffs.  Both sides are pretty good at wag the dog.  The right made trans their battle cry but statistically it makes no sense the lather it brings up.

They are a small piece of the population but Americans understand the difference between humoring a boy wanting to identify as a girl and actually thinking that boy is a girl.  I think some of the thinking is that if you are willing to say men can get pregnant and its ok for men to compete with women in sports, then what other whacked things are you going to try to force me to think/say?  I would vote for any Democrat who had a credible plan to slow spending.  The last politician I can think of that had a credible plan was Paul Ryan.

Transphobia and immigrant bashing is just a distraction.  Once there are zero homos and Mexicans, people will understand that their situations still have not improved.  It is a bunch of snakeoil that has zero chance of curing what is wrong and it may even kill you.   Trump is only good at turning the mob with its pitchforks towards a new target.

It’s a bit more complicated than a flippant “humoring a boy”….I don’t have to understand it hut I can show them respect.  As far as playing sports, physiologically if said male didn’t transition until 17-18 (and I mean fully with parts lopped off) having one year of suppressive therapy does not offset the physiologic development through puberty.  So, I have reservations with how the current rules are stated.  It’s rather uncharted territory.  I’d be fine with male to female athletes participating if their suppressive therapy was going in as long as their untreated pubescent years.  Physiologically that makes more sense….more equivalent.

But whether you’re gay, bi, trans or fundamental Christian I don’t really care.  I’m assuming you are Mormon and I honestly don’t have to understand why you believe what you believe, but I respect  you’re right to believe it…just like I’ll treat a trans, gay person.  I don’t expect you to like, agree or understand anything that goes against your belief…I do expect you (general term) to give any person respect.  Respect is earned, but everyone deserves to be treated respectfully as long they aren’t infringing on other people’s livelihood.

Double digit deficits (as in $10T+?) at the end of Trump’s term?  I certainly don’t think the man is anywhere close to a fiscal conservative but I’d take that bet any day.  That’s insane, but par for the course in terms of dire predictions from the left.

That’s very much a Trump chicken little prediction.  Sorry… double digit deficits is an absolutely insane increase from the current level ($1.8T or so).  Even spend happy Trump isn’t going to do that.

That’s fine, but I’ll predict it will be “yuge” compared to the normal spend happy shit that goes on.  I’m not an economic expert but reading it looked like 3.5-7 T…and a couple with the 10T.  Pardon my exaggeration, Utah won last night and I forgot how to handle myself.

There is a difference between being polite and respectful versus public policy.  I am fine waking up tomorrow and saying Jessica instead of James and using her instead of him (sorry, but not using they/them for one person).  I am not looking to be a jerk or looking to antagonize someone (who I think is obviously troubled).  That does not mean I have to support public policy that says James/Jessica is now a woman under the law.  I also have a problem with James/Jessica deciding to be on a girls sports team or using women's bathrooms and locker rooms.  It can make women's sports unsafe, makes many women uncomfortable in their change rooms, and there are too many who have autogynephelia and are not trans at all.

It will be huge but it won't be anywhere near double digits.  For 2024, the deficit was $1.8T.

Yeah once the Christian Right is done targeting LGBTQ and Immigrants they will probably go after heretical Mormons next.  History repeats and the same groups that bashed immigrants previously also ultimately targets Mormons.   We shall see what they say then.😉
