Assad is fucked. No one is coming to his aid this time. Hezbollah is a shell of it's former self, Iran won't do anything overtly, and they can't use Hezbollah. The Russians are getting butt fucked in Ukraine and can't afford to move forces to Syria. In the next two months, Assad will either flee, or end up dragged through the streets of Damascus.

The ideal state of HTS (Syria Al Qaeda) seeks a state not unlike the Taliban in Afghanistan. 

It’d be ironic if Israel’s actions in Lebanon inadvertently gave rise to a terror state next door.

Yeah, their leader seems to have mellowed, allowing Christian worship and shit the past few years but it's all a facade
