Cot damn - Israel has ceasefire in Lebanon

What a welcome development. Was starting to get worried thing like historical sites were going to be leveled and my friends would continue to be killed/displaced.

hopefully it holds and allows the Lebanese to rebuild going forward.

Dealing with Iran going forward will determine how long this lasts. Mojtaba Khamenei has stated he is different from his dad. We shall see.

Time to start rooting for the marxists/socialists or some other areligious party to become relevant in Lebanon again

That said while Donald Trump can’t be trusted to advocate for a just solution in the Middle East, at least  he enters office untainted by genocide. however, it is unlikely that he will change course, and may even call for more genocide. 
 

that said he finds himself in a position to make a grand deal given the particulars of the current moment. What the new admin should do is broker a deal between Syria and Israel. And also with Lebanon and Israel. With Hezbollah weakened considerably it’s a real possibility it could work for the first time in decades. Plus Assad would be all too happy to finally be rid of the Iranians and the whole region would prosper going forward without wasting their resources on various efforts in trying to kill each other. 
 

if the Trump admin pulled that off they’d get mega dittos in my book. Would make him a legend.
