I saw this topic title and immediately assumed it was about baggie basketball...

we should probably have a "pinned" heading for that

Would not be off brand - losing a coach in the middle of season is the next evolution if you look at the pattern

Craig Smith: 3 years

Ryan Odom: 2 years

Danny Sprinkle: 1 year

So yes, Calhoun will be hired away before the conference tourney.

I would be shocked if it was Bronco. The guy just started and is loving the rebuild here.

I'm sort of rooting for it, just because I want to see @sean327's head explode and his posts would be wildly entertaining if it did.

How is the assessment in his first season as coach?

Who is the Athletic Director at Utah State

Is it Diana Sabau? (google search listed her)

It says she was affiliated with Ohio State.   I wonder if she has any coaching connections she might bring from there?

EDIT:

Looks like that is indeed happening.

"Two names to keep an eye on regarding the Utah State Football Head Coaching job… Carlos Locklyn - Running Backs Coach Ohio State Justin Frye - Associate Head Coach / O line Coach Ohio State Hat tip to the trusted source that tipped me off to these two names."

huh?

First, I said I will be the honorary #2Stunner (not the original), but Mug wouldn't do it after looking at me and doesn't believe I'm the same guy .    Oh well

Second, this was a twitter search - I don't even know how that could be trolling?   Am I missing the reference?   Is JD Walker like the West Virginia guy?

Third, if I tried to troll you, it would be a lot better than this

Whole culture has changed. The guy is crying after he wins games here. Players love him to death and we have one of the best offenses in the west.

Defense has been pretty bad though. But the guys never give up. It was a great hire. No way he leaves for USU unless he is dying to live in Utah again.

I think UNLV is the only school likely to lose a coach to the P4 this season.

New Mexico should be better in football and basketball than they have been.

Surprised 0 FCS coaches are being considered, if the rumors of a few MWC Head Coaches being interested are true then I could see the MWC schools backfilling with Vigen and/or ECk

Total stunner material, as is his follow up attempts at feigning ignorance and humility.

I think you're safe. I don't think Bronco is a USU target or one of the finalists, and I agree that I don't think the timing is all that great or makes much sense on his end either.

Sabau has shown an affinity for coaches from Ohio, there is no doubt but the two Ohio St. guys mentioned above are not even in consideration - despite their OSU ties. That is someone just feeding a bunch of junk to someone looking to break some news.

If there are indeed two MWC coaches in the final four, and I doubt that, I would suspect that they are Dreiling and Skipper.  I just don't see any MWC coaches wanting to jump into that NCAA cesspool right now, including those two but they seem to be the guys looking for jobs.

Defense will stink as long as Howell is your DC.  Bronco’s loyalty to certain members of his staff despite obvious shortcomings is his biggest weakness IMO.

I remember BYU fans complaining about your OL coach that Bronco wouldnt get rid of... 2010 ish.. weber.. ended up at USU... I can say those complaints were...justified.
