I dont watch MSNBC now, and I won’t watch it when it becomes the new newsmax (or wherever the MAGA crowd gets their news from right now). Guessing either CNN or ABC becomes the new MSNBC. Wonder what Fox will do?

I don't think a melt down will happen. This is just more in the way of entertainment... own the libs and such.

Some other network or cable station will fill the MNBC void and the viewers who like that will flock there.

It’s also not real. Comcast is spinning off most of its cable channels - amongst them USA, CNBC and MSNBC - into a separate company. They announced it earlier in the week.

Given that Trump keeps stealing the Fox on-air talent they may have to turn out the lights anyway.

To each his or her own, but I don't like MSNBC, Fox News or CNN. But I do like Scripps News. If your carrier doesn't have it you can stream it on PlutoTV for free. There are many more news outlets (inc. local and regional markets) that you can watch there for free as well. https://pluto.tv/

Infomercials on obscure networks at 3am get better ratings than MSNBC. There isn’t much void to fill.

I mean I literally don’t watch any MSM, but I can acknowledge that the “big 3” networks, including MSNBC, “matter” a lot. So if this happens I know it will be very impactful in what happens to MSNBC and also how that affects Fox and CNN. I mean I won’t actually be watching what happens, but I’ll be following the headlines and whatnot.

Well, then I guess you agree with me, there will be no melt down. which was the point.

I'd rather Musk devote himself to his new role in the Trump administration than wasting time on legacy media.

After the Department of Efficiency gets established, I'd like to Musk attack Fake News at the govt. level. Something akin to what he's been able to accomplish at X.

Buying MSLSD is cheap entertainment for him, and me

Is this just a MAGA wet dream or something? I'm not seeing anything that MSNBC is for sale, just that it and other properties are being spun off into their own entity.

Would someone have to buy MSNBC?  All you would be buying is Rachel Maddow's one show a week.  No one tunes in for anything else.  It has to be a loser.

This particular strain of TDS affects perception of reality.

NBC Universal is spinning off all of its cable networks (except Bravo) into a separate company.

That's effectively what I said. I don't know where this MSNBC is for sale stuff came about other than what appears to be a MAGA wet dream to "own the libs" some more or something.

Well, MSNBC is one of the cable channels being spun off.  Presumably it is for sell.  I could give a rip who buys them.
