Religious bigotry aside, if you're talking about Roe v Wade, Roman Catholics are just as split as the rest of the country on the subject.  And Sotomayor is Catholic as well.

That is why I said 5 and not 6.  Catholics believe life(ensoulment) starts at conception but other religions do not agree.  The truth is not religious bigotry.

My wife took our daughter into the women’s rest room and I took our son into the men’s rest room. Regardless what we are comfortable doing there are some people that aren’t comfortable sharing a bathroom with the opposite sex. Don’t they also have rights?

Your wife was always by your side? I have a four year old daughter and sometimes I’ve had to take her into the men’s restroom because she had to go when my wife wasn’t nearby or didn’t come somewhere with us.

Most small businesses have handled it by no longer having men's and women's rooms. Just one person unisex shitters. I know this doesn't apply to large public restrooms, but, I'm certain there is a way forward without having to turn trans folk into second class citizens.

European style bathroom stalls? Ban American style? That’s the real problem here.

Yep but the wrote the Constitution specifically to protect against the Tyranny of the Majority.  Sadly 5 Catholic Judges: Roberts, Alioto, Thomas, Barrett and  Kavanaugh joined by Gorsuch seem perfectly happy imposing Catholic religious belief on the rest of the population.

Or...Roe was always improperly decided and had no constitutional basis and they made the correct if unpopular decision.

But I mean I have had to explain the most basic shit ever to you soooooo often.

Tell me again how the US government can seize Space X lmaooooo

SeaTac airport remodeled the bathroom in concourse D to be unisex. Actually looks and sounds like a better facility than other single-sex public bathrooms.

My wife used it last year when we flew home from Seattle (I didn't need to use one). She said initially it was a strange feeling to walk in the doorway with men passing her. But once inside it had been remodeled so that each toilet was an individual room with a full door that locked. No stalls with partial doors. She commented that it was nice not hearing or smelling the people using the toilets next to her. Then the sinks were all communal but she said that was no different for her than many other experiences. She felt very comfortable. Plus it made it first come first serve instead of a long women's restroom line and no line for the men's restroom.

That should be a model for many public restrooms. Everyone gets privacy that way.

It looks like this:

That’s what the bathrooms out in the new Tunneltop Park in the Presidio look like. SFO has these in a couple of the terminals now too. It’s a great concept.

Man, I’ve just stopped trying with him. It’s easier to reason with a toilet seat cover than Sactown.

Yeah I had my niece and nephew out to visit once and had to go into the men’s restroom with them. There were no issues.

this hysteria makes it seem like there’s just hordes of predators ogling kids everywhere lol. Almost feels like how people used to watch the John Walsh show and be convinced their kid was going to be stolen while playing Nintendo at Sears

It's pretty simple.  The jurisprudence subscribed by the Justices, after great deliberation found that the Roe decision was wrongly decided.  And, according to said jurisprudence it was....There is no constitutional protection for abortion...

I hate it and wish there was....

But hey let's get bigoted with it!  Fuck them rosery huggers!

Says the dude who guaranteed Roe would never be overturned.  So what is your point now….

To your point, Roe was not argued on first Amendment grounds but it doesn’t take much research to see world religions don’t agree on the point of ensoulment and 5 Catholic judges plus Gorsuch implemented Catholic Doctrine.

You call it Catholic whatever.  Sounds more like just following their understood jurisprudential interpretation

Does the First Amendment say favor one religion over others?  So why are we following Catholic Dogma when other religions disagree?

If you are transgender woman, you can either remove your wig if you feel uneasy entering a male bathroom or opt for a unisex bathroom instead. That's all there is to it. There is no reason for a man dressed as a woman to use a women's bathroom.

Other than they have gotten beat up in the men’s restroom and are often literally unsafe.

If you want a trans identifier to use the same bathroom as your wife and kids, you should hang a "Judgement Free Bathroom Zone. All Genders Welcome." sign in front of your house.

You get what you want, people who aren't comfortable with sausage parties in a public ladies room get what they want.

A man pretending to be a woman is liable to get beaten up for the using the ladies room, rendering them unsafe for trans usage as well. All the more reason to hang the sign in front of your house.

I see both sides of this debate (to be clear, not always comfortably either), but from a distance at least this action by Mace (and MTG) makes her look petty/angry.  One study here...

https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s13178-018-0335-z

"This study finds that the passage of such laws is not related to the number or frequency of criminal incidents in these spaces. Additionally, the study finds that reports of privacy and safety violations in public restrooms, locker rooms, and changing rooms are exceedingly rare. This study provides evidence that fears of increased safety and privacy violations as a result of nondiscrimination laws are not empirically grounded."

We had a guy undergoing a sex change at work 20 years ago.  They put out a notification about what the process would be, and confirming that he would be using both bathrooms as he transitioned.  People were told they could come forward with any concerns and Im sure accommodations would have been made.  It was handled well and I don’t remember anyone having a problem.

I agree with you, Mace seems petty and is grandstanding.  I think it can be a legitimate concern at schools and public restrooms, but in a controlled access adult environment like the Capitol?  Gimme a break.

GOP has a chance to be on the right side of this issue, overreaching a d grandstanding like this is absolutely the wrong way to go and will turn people off
