UtGrizfan Posted November 18 Posted November 18 It's really not hard but people of a primarily left poltical disposition seem to have a hard time understanding this. Biological men pretending to be women do NOT belong in Women's sports, locker rooms or bathrooms. I'm thinking that other PAC teams may join the lawsuit, if they do might use it as leverage of sorts with the current one filed by OSU and Wazzu 1
SharkTanked Posted November 20 Posted November 20 I am not a fan of biological men playing in women's sports. But on the list of things I give a shit about this is so far down I can't even see it. 5

Keep trans out of women’s sports and it’ll be settled. 1

Keep trans out of women’s sports and it’ll be settled. In general, I don’t think trans athletes should play women’s sports with only minimal exception. But I have a daughter who plays across the West in two sports. She plays in tournaments or games most every weekend. And I have yet to run into a trans athlete that I know of. Nor do I know anyone whose daughter has played against a trans athlete. Even here in liberal Oregon. It is indeed a discussion among parents, mainly brought up unsolicited by MAGA-friendly dads. When it is brought up to me, I always ask the same thing: Has your daughter ever competed against a trans athlete? The answer is always the same. Which is to say that a discussion is a good thing and warranted. But the anger and vitriol is not warranted. This is a niche issue, affecting only very few. And it’s good to remember that there are human beings on each side of the issue, including some of the most at-risk and marginalized kids. The vitriol and demagoguery over the issue does no one any good. 4 1
Soupslam Posted November 20 Posted November 20 Going back to the suit against SJSU I hope they win. Guys that think they are girls should not be playing against girls and guys should not be taking girls scholarships. Those that think otherwise are putting trans rights ahead of girls rights. Beside that it’s not fair competition. I was a very average high school basketball player. There is no doubt in my mind I would be a star on most women’s college basketball teams being much stronger and jump much higher than women college players. 1 1

Most High-end D1 women’s players would most likely blow your doors off. Their shooting, ball handling, etc. are better than an average high school hoops player.

Remember when a club 15-16 year old boys soccer team decisively beat the USA women’s national team in a scrimmage. Even at that age the guys physically over matched talented mature women players 1 1

An average HS player doesn’t play on elite academy teams like the team that reportedly beat the national team. I’ve played many pickup games against current and former D1 women’s players and they are good. Better than an elite HS player? Maybe some. Better than the average HS 6-2 post who shoots 30% outside 10 feet? I’ll take the high-end D1 player. Let me put it this way. What do you think the same Dallas FC academy team would do to Boise High boys soccer? 1

The skills are different, too. My daughter is a very good softball player. She doesn’t have the bat speed and power I had at her age. But her bat-to-ball skills are vastly better than mine ever were. She struck out 5 times … this year. Hundreds of ABs against pitchers throwing nearly 60 mph from 43 feet. Not easy to do. I couldn’t do it. 3

Given the quality of the FC Dallas academy - USMNT members Weston McKinnie, Ricardo Pepi, Chris Richards, Alex Zendejas and Tanner Tessman all went thru there - they'd crush some random HS team. A couple of those guys even played in that 'game' against the USWNT. Always good for a laugh when that is brought up. Ignorance is bliss. Of course, this match against the academy team was very informal and should not be a major cause for alarm. The U.S. surely wasn’t going all out, with the main goal being to get some minutes on the pitch, build chemistry when it comes to moving the ball around, improve defensive shape and get ready for Russia. 1

That average 6’2” HS guy post would muscle his way under the basket and jump a minimum of a foot over a similar size college girl post and score on her repeatedly while she fouled out. It would be no contest. 1
