Nah, thought it pretty fitting for this thread.

And therein lies the problem…

More like send her far away so she can't make a scene.

I said a few months ago when the rumors about Don Jr and another woman started that the Trump family would pressure them to avoid a public split until after the election.

sactown, you know these articles are behind a paywall

when you post the link could you also copy and paste one or two summary paragraphs?

It was not for me and I don’t subscribe to the Times.  Not sure why I could read it.

basically it talked about plans to replace the Flag officers not loyal to Trump.   It talked about the training and expectation amount General staff to follow only constitutional orders and how Trumps previous staff of Kelly, Mattis and Milley thwarted those ambitions.   That at the Colonel level not everyone is fully vested in loyalty to the constitution over Trump and the upcoming battle on who gets promoted.  Traditionally it is owned by the General Staff but that may now be subject to change.

I asked ChatGPT to summarize it:

--------
The New York Times opinion piece from December 12, 2024, examines the potential impact of Donald Trump's forthcoming presidency on the U.S. military's integrity and apolitical stance. The author expresses concerns that Trump's leadership style and policy decisions could erode military professionalism and politicize the armed forces. The article highlights Trump's history of criticizing military leaders, his controversial personnel choices, and his unconventional foreign policy approaches, suggesting these actions may undermine trust within the military and between military and civilian leadership.

The author emphasizes the importance of maintaining the military's apolitical nature and upholding democratic norms during Trump's tenure. They call for vigilance to ensure that the armed forces remain committed to their constitutional duties without undue political influence. The piece underscores the necessity of preserving the foundational principle of civilian control over the military while safeguarding the institution's integrity amidst potential challenges posed by the new administration.

That one is a bit rich.  Democrats just ran a candidate who could not even stay in the 2020 presidential election long enough to even get to the voting.
