Heard some good news from a Trumper friend.  It seems the turnout for Republicans among Hispanics has Republicans thinking if they take care of Dreamers and family members like parents they can sew up the Hispanic vote for years.

They are probably correct.  Quite frankly if they do the right thing for both the people by not decimating families and the country by not decimating our work force then good for them.  We can all pray that line of thinking prevails.

We have been saying that on this (MWC/WCS) board for years.

The Latino block should be a solid conservative base.  They support traditional family values, are highly religious and blue collar.  All the GOP has/had to do is stop dehumanizing them.

I love the last part about decimating the work force…elitist racism, but not really because you’re a lib?

They're just saying the quiet part out loud, according to the left deporting illegal immigrants, in particular the criminal elements, will somehow automatically mean (insert racist stereotype job) will suffer.

According to estimates from the Center for Migration Studies of New York (CMS) and other groups, as many as 8.3 million undocumented immigrants work in the US economy, or 5.2 percent of the workforce. They work in construction (1.5 million), restaurants (1 million), agriculture and farms (320,000), landscaping (300,000), and food processing and manufacturing (200,000), among other occupations.

yeah was gonna say..."illegal" labor makes the country run

even if we get past the logistical absurdity of trying to deport 11 million people (current estimated "illegal" population) in some quicklike fashion as has been alluded to and just for sake of argument assume it can be done...how is the country going to function absent 8 million workers in key fields?

the yokels haven't thought this one through.

Other impoverished immigrant laborers in a time before modern workforce safety laws existed.

So many line cooks and service workers are first gen illegal or otherwise.  So many dudes hauling cinder.

Here is the thing.

We need a damn border.  It is almost a certainty we are looking at a series of terrorist attacks. We know this.  We know terrorist fucks used the Southern Border to get here.  It is if, not when  we have this documented.

Who knows how many slipped through?  It is a near impossible to have borders that protect from that.

Ok...that reality sucks.

The other reality is that, statistically, immigrants illegal or legal tend to commit less crimes and have been an economic staple.

I just think we can do things better.

There’s a big gap between “open borders” and “deport all the illegal foreigners” tho.

At this point idk what the perfect solution is but I’d like to see consideration given to a guest worker program with an eventual pathway to citizenship

For sure.

Absolutely.

And that would work into the GOP hands.

The reality though is people crossed over our border, for no other purpose than terrorism.

It's going to happen.

The Biden Admin even acknowledged that.

That will set, when it happens set our idealism back

You think undocumented people are CEO’s of many Fortune 500 firms?  Generally if they are senior management they will have already been offered citizenship.  I know more than a couple in that boat.

But the core of our construction workers and farm workers and hospitality workers are all still undocumented.  Tell me what is elitist about that point.
