Trojan209 Posted November 2 Posted November 2 Starting to look like the West Coast schools are taking over the Olympic Sports in their new conference. The LA schools take the top 2 spots in the women's soccer tournament. Not leaving out men's soccer, UW and UCLA aren't doing too bad with their last match to play on Sunday for the tiebreaker. Even though Wisconsin won the men's XC Championship, Washington placed 2nd and Oregon 3rd. Oregon took the women's title and Washington placed 2nd.
Bison Posted November 2 Posted November 2 Can't say I'm shocked about the WC schools killing it in the Oly Sports. And the Big 12 soccer tourney had to make timing adjustments in Kansas City...guess the weather is nasty there.
Rebel_Alliance Posted November 2 Posted November 2 We'll see how things play out over the entire season. Ohio State and Michigan have been finishing higher that USCLA in the Directors Cup for some time now. And there's a lot of sports where the old B1G schools are powerhouses, and the West Coast is irrelevant: wrestling, fencing, hockey, lacrosse. On the other hand, I'd expect for the West Coast schools to dominate in anything that could be considered a warm weather sport like baseball, track, softball and golf.

We’re irrelevant because we don’t compete in any of those sports, except USC has women’s LAX and I think UCLA and UW have women’s gymnastics.
Trojan209 Posted November 5 Author Posted November 5 You almost wouldn't know this was a B1G conference tournament based on the semifinal teams. Over on the men's side their bracket is weird.
Trojan209 Posted November 8 Author Posted November 8 No Battle for LA II. USC first west-coast team to be eliminated in the soccer tournament on penalty kicks. Great season overall so now they just await seeding for the NCAA tournament. Of course, the B1G would put the wrong team graphic winner for UW/MSU.
Trojan209 Posted November 12 Author Posted November 12 UCLA won the B1G women's soccer tourney. But USC still ended up with a 1 seed in the NCAA tourney, and on a good side of the bracket that could take them far.
