With the rumors/talk that both Montana and Dakota State schools have banded together to join the MWC:

-Montana: 26,025, 5 Home Games (under Houston and above Wazzu)

-MSU: 21,837, 4 Home Games (under Wyoming and above Nevada )

-SDSU: 19,345, 4 Home Games (under Wyoming and Montana State, above Nevada)

-NDSU: 17,882, 4 Home Games (under USU, above New Mexico)

NDSU needs a new stadium.  The Fargo Dome sucks

I am really happy with the attendance number for CSU. I know a good portion of the bump is due to the fact that they played CU at Canvas and the only way to get tickets to that was a three-pack or season tickets, but an 8K jump over last year's average is great (especially with how the team started this year).

Sell-outs against Northern Colorado, CU, and New Mexico with worse numbers against UTEP (immediately following the CU letdown) and SJSU (2-3 after the OSU meltdown). Both of those were still above last years averages.

I've said it before - but as long as CSU wins, the fans and Fort Collins will support them and sell-out Canvas. If they can win at Nevada Saturday, I would expect another sell-out for the Border War (it might sell-out anyway even if they lose to Nevada). We will see about the weather on black Friday for the USU game, but should be a good crowd still.

From what I read above, San Diego State is just over 27K. Most likely announced attendance. We have great facilities but our fan base kinda sucks. However, the MWC should drop SJSU, somehow convince AF (No Diss to AF) to join the other academies in the AAC, and add the Montana and Dakota schools and get a merger done. Idaho isn't a bad option either. That would be a solid move in my opinion and create more regional rivalries.

Since that is just the West Coast, I wanted to also point out that Fresno State currently has the highest attendance among non-Power schools this season.

Given the support and recruiting area Fresno has, their record should be much better.

The Aztecs football support is atrocious for a major metro area with no pro football competition and great weather. I know they raised ticket prices for the new stadium but what other reasons are there?

Can't really disagree. However, the university does invest in their athletic programs and facilities. One losing season in 14 years, hopefully 15 😬, and our fans not showing up is pathetic. Also, I think the administration finally realized this isn't the NFL and are starting lowering ticket prices. Not that that actually matters, because as I stated, our fan base for football sucks. Still leaps and bounds better than SJSU.

I mean we have a poster here that was hoping the Aztecs, who could be 5-2 without two 4th quarter meltdowns, would lose 5 games into the season, so the university wouldn't resign a first year head coach during a complete rebuild and is starting a freshman QB.

Want to get a real look at SDSU's pathetic fan bases, check out AztecMesa on game days.

There's also ice fishing and skating on Lake Murray and the Parade of Lights on the bay that keeps fans away. 😵‍💫

It's primarily cultural, which is why all the D1 FB schools in CA that aren't in the valley have noticeable attendance drop-offs if they aren't winning and ranked. That said, SDSU football game prices are way too high for the product on the field. Suitable for funding debts but not building a fanbase in the middle class and below.

There are numerous factors

FB is dying in Cali. Fewer kids are playing FB in Cali.

 Economic factors, Covid.

SDSU's on-field collapse after moving into Snappy.

The fanbase is aging. One Aztec Mesa poster said he walked around the Stadium last week while the game was going on and noticed very few 20-40 year olds. It was mostly aging boomers and a couple thousand students. That's not a good sign as to what the future fanbase will be.

As to on field issues, the SDSU FB  NIL is at the bottom of the MW. Enough said.

They barely lowered prices this season, and next year, they will be the same. Unfortunately, until the team wins 9 games or more consistently again, I expect 15k crowds for the foreseeable future.

This is where the oldtimers dont get it. Those young fans exist, but they are the ones who don't show up unless the team is winning. Its the youngin's in that 20-40 range the school needs to put a full court press on getting to football games.

SDSU was trying to give tickets away to get people in the stands this season. Either way, the majority of SDSU's fan base are pathetic.

Again, 1 losing season in 14 years and Aztecs fans won't support the team during a complete rebuild.

Let's also not forget less than 10K showing for a conference championship game. The announced crowd was different, of course. I watched that game and was embarrassed when a couple of people asked where the fans were? It was lucky if there were 5K in the stands. We're the Aztecs not winning?

Weak sauce.

Is your average attendance in Viejas close to that of Snapdragon?

Why would we drop Air Force? They're the best and most prestigious program left in the conference.

Fb is not dying in CA.  Just go to high school games this weekend.   Bleachers are full and well supported.   Given how many high schools exist in California, attendance at high school games in California each week is likely in top 3 in total for all states.
