I know what conference they are in. Didn’t you guys have to pay some “exit fees” to the Big East/AAC when you backed out after agreeing to join?

You should thank the PAC. If they don’t poach the Zags, GCU wouldn’t be considering the MW.

Yea I don’t really give a shit if we add GCU or not. If we stand pat that’s perfectly fine with me. So not really sure what the point of this random ass post was.

Also I wasn’t talking shit about SDSU and the Big East and exit fees. IIRC Boise and SDSU (and TCU) still had to pay the Big East even though they never played a game there. If I’m wrong any SDSU/Boise/TCU fans that aren’t sensitive as hell feel free to correct me.

He just likes to say PAC….tells all his friends his team made it into the Pac12, then has to tell them the Aztecs joined the two powers-OSU and WSU-who were left behind by the 10 decent teams who are now the two powers holding all the cards…and he then adds its the PAC 7 and they’re now looking to possibly add a power like Texas State so their conference is recognized. Everyone then walks away laughing… G6 power

I think the MW needs to copy what other conferences have done when they're raided, raid weaker conferences. I'd like to see Pacific added as a non football member.

Pacific vs. SJSU has some great history.

NMSU’a basketball program is a mess and recently saw coaches hiding a gun used in the commission of a shooting and administration turning a blind eye to sexual assaults on freshman players as a form of ‘initiation.’

I see no value in them until they prove they are capable of running a serious program.

Everyone involved was fired. From the entire coaching staff, to the administration. I don't think that crap will happen again. NMSU is the only option that makes sense.

This is what I came up with regarding SDSU.

"San Diego State does not have a Big East exit fee but repotedly owes the Big West, its former non-revenue-sport home, $1.5 million. SDSU can use its 2013 revenue allotment from the Mountain West to help pay those fees."

CBS

https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/8850122/san-diego-state-reinstated-mountain-west-conference-member

"And because Boise State changed its mind about joining the Big East, the Aztecs will not have to pay an exit fee to leave the Big East. In SDSU's contract with the Big East, the Aztecs' exit fee is withdrawn if there was not another Big East member located west of the Rocky Mountains."

So it looks like Boise paid an exit fee to the Big East/AAC that was negotiated down to a little over $2M:

https://www.si.com/college/2014/07/04/ap-boise-st-exit-fee

And then (I assume) both of y’all had an exit fee for the BW.

So, @Spaztecs, there is every reason to believe that GCU would owe an exit fee to the WCC if they backed out to join the MWC or Pac, even though they haven’t played a WCC game yet.

Back in the day, the Aztecs and the Beach, or 49ers back then had a pretty good rivalry going in football.

Long Beach and Cal State LA were the Aztecs rivals back in the day.  Fresno and Sparty were just Conference members. Pacific, UCSB, and Fullerton were also Conference mates.

How long until we start talking about Hoser like we talk about LBSU and CSUN football?

Do you think there’s any truth behind the UNM administration not wanting NMSU in the same league?

It is ridiculous that there’s only two FBS schools in LA-OC.

There are zero in the greater NY metro area.

What's your point ?

Football is a sport that appeals to country bumpkins.  There are a number of large cities without a D1 program (New York, Chicago, Detroit......)

I’m looking to establish the University of Hawaii, LA franchise to be based in El Segundo near LAX, that would get accepted to the prestigious PAC-12 conference.  Possibly the Big 12.

We would play at Carson Stadium.

Nah, mostly, I just tell folks to just have a few more years and no more roadies to the Ikea fulfillment center in San Jose. Of all the fans who should be in their feelings about what is going on, the Spartans and their terrible AD should probably take a look in the mirror when wondering why the MW broke up.
