They'd be stupid if they didn't.

The MWC needs to replace bball tourney credits that were lost with the PAC. This is one way of doing that. It's whatever, not like the MWC has a lot of options. Beggers can't be choosers.

If hope that the MWC goes after St.Marys first if they want to add bball only, but if we can't get Texas State or Sam Houston State, then we ain't getting St. Mary's.

fuck St Mary's, they bring nothing...as soon as Bennet retires they probably go to shit

GCU would fit in well with all the other podunk schools in the WAC 12.

Like the schools in Pullman and Logan. I hear ya.

GCU would be a solid add and might be the key to break St Mary's loose for the MW.

I would pass on Saint Mary’s.  Very small school in a very small Bay Area suburb with a very small gym.  They have a great thing going right now with Coach Bennett helming the men’s basketball program but ater he retires it’s questionable whether that success can be sustained.

GCU would be a solid add for olys. I think I read at some point that they were interested in trying to start football, so maybe being in the MW would accelerate that.

I think Sac State would still be worth taking a shot if they can pay for everything needed to make the jump. Still not a fan of the NIU and Toledo football idea, but if it helps strengthen our football side and media deal then I'll live with it. I just remember in college going to a Nevada vs. LA Tech game and thinking WTF is a Louisiana/Eastern school doing in a Western conference. I have a feeling their fans will feel the same, but geography doesn't matter in this new cutthroat era.

This is a ploy to get the Pac to jump at Grand Canyon.  I hope.

The Pac and GCU have already had discussions. Since the MW is now in play, it's obvious the Pac-GCU talks were unfruitful.

GCU is supposed to join the WCC next year. It's obvious they wanted to follow Gonzaga to the Pac. Since that option is off the table a Gonzaga-less WCC is not a good option.

I actually don’t hate this. WCC exit fees probably aren’t very high, and they make sense geographically. Generally have solid to good basketball and baseball. Probably the one non-football addition I wouldn’t hate.

GCU is currently in the WAC. If they accept an MW invite, I doubt they spend one year in the WCC.

GCU would be a great add. I've been high on them for years. Location is right, the arena size is right. They're new money for a new era.

The MW would be closer to sponsoring men's soccer with GCU, Air Force, UNLV and SJSU. Only need two more members for it. Bring in OSU, SDSU, Gonzaga and Sac State as affiliates and MWC men's soccer is born.

As an reminder for @HawaiiMongoose, GCU also sponsors men's volleyball and beach volleyball. They can trade places with UH in those sports if needed.

Sorry, but the MW Soccer Schools will be joining the Pac, WCC, or BW.

No one but GCU is joining the MW for it's Olys.

My guess is TV contracts, having enough schools to complete a basketball schedule, and having enough schools for sports like baseball.

Do you really believe CBS or Fox are interested in airing that NMSU- AFA game ?

That's why many of our FB and BB games are being aired on the MW and Max. No one else wants to air a game being viewed by maybe 10,000 people.

There's a reason your School didn't get invited.

You just refuse to accept it.

Embrace the breakup. Look at the bright side. UW will become more competitive in the new MW. If the Pac-Mw did merge, you wouldn't be receiving the welfare checks you have coming.

Yes, I believe that CBS Sports, maybe FS2, or someone is interested in bidding on the next MWC TV contract, for the right price.

And also that streaming, on something like ESPN+ is also an option

The new Coast to Coast leagues have boosted interest. There is more interest in Wisconsin-UCLA than there is in UCLA - Colorado.

That price has been estimated, speculated , and back door rumoured to be about $48 mil for the current 8 Schools. I doubt adding NIU, NMSU, GCU, or any other School being mentioned will move the number beyond the current six mil per School.

Under our current TV contract many of the less desirable games are being subbed out to the MW or other carriers. The networks don't care about the "inventory" of a Conference. They care about compelling matchups with Teams that have large viewership.

That is true for the current AAC teams. With ESPN as the main carrier for that league, the bad matchups are relegated to ESPN+. That is why Memphis fans were angry that their latest game was down that route while our present worse matchups are on the MW network that is free. When the new contract come up in a few years, things are going to get worse.
