Memphis AD saying on local radio to a question about the PAC-12 that they are open to another of their offers if they want to try again

——> meaning give me an offer I can’t refuse, otherwise we good.

Actually, I think it means fans and boosters are crawling up his butt about it and he needs to publicly act like he is doing due diligence. I doubt the PAC would go public with their offer, but if Memphis refuses a good offer they may pay hell with their supporters.

Exploratory phase for six months, lol.

I would be working on getting full membership first, but I don't know anything about playing 3D chess.

AD’s communicating interest with other conferences regarding realignment via local radio shows?

I love the newfound public transparency.

So is it routine q&a or hidden meanings in his interview? You’re all over the place.

There quite a few posters that it doesn't matter what the topic is, they've find fault with it. PAC bad, MWC good. They'd point and laugh if Alabama got added because of travel. Or signing with Fox because it's not ESPN. Or signing with ESPN because it's not Fox

Okay, Wikipedia must not be updated. Sorry I didn't research past the link that was shared.

No doubt that UNM has the best overall athletic department of the remaining MW programs.

Stanford has almost annually won more NCAA national championships than any other school. To reward the Cardinal for that, eight of its fellow Pac-12 members left Stanford behind for greener pastures.

An internal audit by Comcast in the summer of2022 unearthed the overpayments that were known internally within the Pac-12since late 2017.

And it looks like they were all aware of it too-wouldn’t this be considered theft? I wonder how this is going to impact the PAC 12, specifically Washington State and Oregon State .

Lmao at such comments from the school whose idiot president persuaded most of his nine Pac12 peers to accept the opinion of a Utah business professor that they could get $50M each in TV revenue despite losing U$C and UCLA.

ESPN might throw in a couple million if the Pac agrees to Thursday Night Pac-tion.

As if members of THE Mountain West Conference wouldn't give their right nut to play a couple Thursday night football games in exchange for an additional $2M in TV revenue.

Like the major networks don’t want to legitimize The CW and play second fiddle in media rights.

ESPN says you’re going straight to Plus!

Could be why “they” killed the old PAC-12.  You didn’t hear about secondary  partnerships with the traditional guys after ESPN took their business to the B12, and all you heard was CW and the streamers or exotic media potential targets.  I don’t think they had anything against the PAC other than their ego (which is common in elite collegiate athletics), but I do think they hate The CW and what they represent.  Value destruction.

"Hate" is a strong word. Since I can't fathom how small-fry CW could possibly hurt gigantic ABC-affiliated ESPN, why do you think ESPN "hates" The CW?

Per school, per year? I guess it would be worth it. I would rather games be scheduled to make it easier for people to attend.

Hate is the appropriate word incumbents would have for a disruptor.

Collectively we are speculating that the PAC or MW respective deals for the each conference might be in the ballpark of the valuation of one Big 10 team per year.

The hate comes from having a TV channel on OTA right next to a competitor who paid 10x, 15x what the CW might be paying.

Hate is for the coming dilution of value coming their way.

Maybe there’s another word, but I think it’s hate.  They don’t want the CW to succeed.

ESPN is a dying dinosaur IMO.  They've made their own bed.  Fk 'em.  There's nothing wrong with a marketing plan to convince folks that the only way to get the best product is through your outlet.  There is a flaw when folks figure out that's bullshit.  Of course they're worried about other outlets picking off their scraps.  That's why they've focused on a small segment of athletics and promoted that segment to the detriment of all others.  They're fighting like hell.

Fortunately, I still get to pick which channel I watch and not everyone is enamored with ESPN's guidance on how to make that choice.  The broader the market gets, the more they find themselves trapped in their limited business plan.

BTW...CW sucks.  Turner rocks.  I really hope we end up with Turner.

When is the PW scheduled to add Saint Mary’s? Any plans to add Santa Clara as well?

One down, one more to go?

PAC will have the 2nd highest winning % behind only the B10.

If true it will be very interesting to see how the St. Mary's addition pans out for the Pac over the next few years.  I have doubts about the decision, but who knows, maybe it turns out to be a home run.

Texas State is a great addition IMHO.  I was hopeful the Pac would find some way to fumble that invitation and open the door to the MWC taking another run at the Bobcats, but knew that was very unlikely.

I really don’t get adding SMC. TXST has good facilities and they’re in Texas, otherwise they have almost no FBS history. I hope it works out if they really are the addition.

Correction: Saint Mary's has come back to the nPAC with an offer to get !/2 of what Gonzaga will receive while committing to upgrading their arena in Moraga.

Why would the nPAC agree? Because Saint Mary's brings the nPAC a school in the Bay Area which brings more value than SJSU while not expecting a full share of revenue.
