Is this what we've become? It's become so much so non stop so much worse almost exponentially in such a short time that we've been bludgeoned into being more or less comfortably Numb?

I find it all so outrageous. I have to tune it out and walk away before it gets to the point where I'm worked up anymore. About 30 min is my daily news consumption limit now. And that's down to mostly headlines on 4 sites with limited views of articles. It's too much.

The World has always been this fucked up. Now we have 24 hour news programing. You have to make a concerted effort to get away from it.

On a bright note, Amazon told the Trump and Harris campaigns to eat a bowl of dicks, and has refused to show campaign ads during Thursday Night Football.

What really bugs the hell out of me is when the MSM says, "It's the new normal."  Bullshit to that!!!  There has to be a limit to the 1st Amendment since that man-child Trump started this bad behaviour.  We're becoming an imbarrassment to the rest of the world.

A little less Floyd and a little more Travis is what you need.

Remember, life is not politics and politics isn't life.  No matter if your candidate wins or loses, your life won't change and YOUR life and those of your loved ones is all that matters in this world.

Now that's a load of bull shit.

The past 20 years have shown it matters a great deal who wins and has a significant impact on your day to day life. Health care. Abortion rights. Taxation. Housing. Levels of assistance. Education which has been demolished since No child left behind. In ways great and small our lives are impacted very much by who wins. And that's a fact.

You are fighting a battle you can’t win. People that have it in their minds that the President doesn’t matter cannot be persuaded otherwise. Even if you give them an actual example they will just handwave it away and say, “I know you say this is an example of who is in the White House affecting a person’s day to day life, but I say it isn’t”. And that will be that.

And how much has you being miserable about all of these issues actually help the situation?

You're depressed and miserable and the issues NEVER go away

They win

Good luck

I think you’re right.  In fact why bother voting.  Stay home

I'll bite.  Joe Biden has been President for three and a half years.  What are the improvements in health care, abortion rights, taxation and education over that time?

You missed the point entire point of this thread Sherlock

I've moved beyond miserable or upset or anxious or depressed to numb. Comfortably Numb. Or can you not read the thread title? I see what's coming and all I can do is shrug.

Travis Tritt is a trash human, and life is VERY much impacted by politics.

I hear this whine from low-information voters a lot.  The ARPA and IRA legislation will have impacts for decades in green energy funding, infrastructure funding, local government funding, etc.

It matters. It matters a lot. No ones going to be around to stop him pulling the navy out of Hawaii this time. Or blocking aid to blue states or Red states that have pissed him off. Or any number of other decisions he can make that will adversely impact Americans lives because he's a vindictive son of a bitch unfit to hold public office and a convicted felon. Too bad we no longer have any standards but if so many voters aren't bothered by that, then this isn't the country I thought it was.

And I'm comfortably numb

Nah. Everyone needs to vote. Just don't anchor the quality of your life to who wins because that is a guaranteed path to a miserable life.

Yes, it does. And not widely known is that Comfortably Numb wasn't written by Roger Waters for placement on The Wall but by David Gilmour for placement on his first solo album which came out in 1978. Word is that the only lyrics which came to Gilmour were "I have become comfortably numb" (presumably through consumption of marijuana and alcohol) but Waters heard the melody and despite how much the two were fighting at the time, he asked Gilmour if it could be used on The Wall. Waters had supposedly been shot up with tranquilizers soon before to " numb" him through a concert despite terrible stomach pains, but he was anything but "comfortable."

I'm with mysfit. Hate is a strong word but I literally hate Donald Trump and worry about where America will be if he gets in the White House again. So I've been trying to prepare myself naturally for where I might be emotionally three weeks from now if MAGA Nation gets it wish.

Let me just say after visiting the apartheid museum today, the general tenor that started Apartheid was eerily similar to what we see from MAGA today.  And yes the party that ushered in apartheid was elected with a minority of the vote.   And btw that opinion was shared by every American in our group.

now in many cases I would agree with your comments but in the case of Trump I find you incredibly naive.

Most people will go on with their lives in the same manner as they have before no matter who wins the election because there will be much more important things in their life than who the president is.
