Although I did not live here until college nor attended a public school, the UT and A&M schools were dirt cheap, but it had nothing to do with the feds subsidizing anything, or even the state government. It had everything to do with the ridiculously large, oil-fueled educational endowments the 2 systems have. And those tuitions continue to be low for the same reason. So if I'm displaying any ignorance, I'm assuredly not alone in that boat. Try to have a nice day. So their were either 47 other states (1950’s) or 49 other states (1960’s) and of those states some others also offered free tuition. The University of Florida, for example, was free for in-state students for many decades. Though the exact timeline is hard to track because of differing language in the school catalogs — like a “registration and instructional fee” that emerged in 1959 — the word “tuition” for Florida residents didn’t pop up until 1969, University Archivist Peggy McBridge says. It is a huge opportunity to enrich himself by offering tariffs for grift. Now that his appointed judges have made him fully immune from prosecution it will go into overdrive and our country may not recover.
