azgreg Posted September 17 Posted September 17 How about a thread to vent about something. I'll start. I recently turned 60 and I need a physical. I just got off the phone with the 5th doctor's office looking for a new doctor and the soonest any of them can see me is early April. 2 1

SharkTanked Posted September 18 Posted September 18 Well this is timely... I'm going thru the big D and don't mean Dallas. Last Sunday morning, my wife of 24 yrs informed me we are getting divorced. Not too surprised. Things had been steadily trending down for awhile and the kid is 19 and still living at home but getting steadily independent. Kid is cool with it. The vent is not about my wife. Nor the fact we are divorcing. Nevada is a common law state. The vent is about the entire financial situation regarding divorce. Even marriage. How a religious distinction turned into a social distinction which became a financial entanglement, I am guessing, is to keep lawyers gainfully employed. We are very amicable. We both want to set each other up for success in our next stage in life. We want to avoid lawyers as much as possible. But I am a government worker, 24 yrs in with 6 yrs to full pension. And when doing a purely fiscal analysis, that is a holy hell lot of money as seen by the divorce industry. My wife doesn't want to touch it and is adamant about that, but we met with a financial divorce consultant today just to get the picture and it was clear to both of us that divorce is an industry full of parasites that exist to bleed fees from hostile parties. To the point they were trying to turn my wife from what she felt was right. Thanks God she is still the woman I always knew and didn't budge from what she thought was right. He did bring up good points and we are getting close to an equal distribution that we are comfortable with. Made us think.of things on terms we had not been doing before. Mostly loss of income and some tax implications. So this instance turned out as a value add... BUT... Thank God we are not hostile parties, because then the sharks come out and the only happy parties are the lawyers and consultants. They complain about hostile parties, but they really love them because it is a fee multiplier. What a fucked up industry that is! People bitch about government, but at least we typically add to collective social improvement. WTF do these guys do? An industry profiting off one of the most emotional and gut wrenching experience in one's life. And the more emotional the more profitable. Fucking leaches. 1 1

However, I will thumbs up #3! 1

I was never aware there was a difference between venting and whining lol. Maybe you can deconstruct that? Actually nevermind, it's not important. #3s are the worst, we can agree. 2
SWspartan Posted September 18 Posted September 18 Litterbugs are lazy, selfish Jerks. So are those who park in Disabled persons parking spaces when they're not disabled. Thanks for letting me vent. 👊

I don't think it's terribly complicated to do physicals. All that said, we definitely don't have enough Family Care docs in the US. The incentives just aren't there for someone in med school to do a residency in family care.

Orange Posted September 19 Posted September 19 Can SOMEONE do SOMETHING about these horrific ads on this forum that make it borderline unusable?

Family law is fucking horrific and many of the family lawyers who succeed there are bloodsucking parasites. Most of it is in the system, and the good lawyers (and good humans) I know who started in family law ALWAYS leave it. 1

Actually no, it is a general gripe that happens occasionally. But I make sure we know what we are ordering before entering the drive thru.
