utenation Posted July 22 Posted July 22 I can never get enough Olympics, winter or summer. I’m worried about the USA men’s basketball team. Really looking forward to track and swimming against Australia. Let’s get the pre-game started. Expectations? Specific sports or athletes?

Who wants to watch knowing we'll win every game by 30+? 1

Considering he played 99.9% of his pro basketball career overseas, will he be playing for China? 😂 And the answer is no. You got me. I won’t cheer for that guy. lol. 1
utenation Posted July 22 Author Posted July 22 @ZonaPoke, a quick side story. I worked in Utah County during Jimmer-mania. It was absolutely disgusting how all those BYU fans thought Jimmer invented basketball. I wanted to throw up. Back when Larry Miller of the Jazz was still alive, BYU fans were always wanting the Jazz to draft Jimmer. Obsessively. Miller was pinned down on a local radio station and asked if he would ever draft Jimmer. His answer was a simple “ absolutely not”. BYU Fans were devastated. 2
Madmartigan Posted July 22 Posted July 22 Great thread. Track and Field is my favorite sport. The USA has some supremely talented athletes that make this must watch TV for me. 2

The "BYU bubble" effect was at full strength during that 2010 to 2011 time frame. Folks were suffering from a severe case of Jimmer brain fog, and nobody was around to slap some sense into them... A few fans even thought it was a good idea to make that Teach Me How To Jimmer video lol

jdgaucho Posted July 22 Posted July 22 Basketball for me. Then some order of soccer, handball, water polo and volleyball. Randomly, Hawaii has two basketball players competing. Sophomore Akira Jacobs (Japan) and '20 Zigmars Raimo for Latvia in the 3x3. @HawaiiMongoose, @Warbow 1

I find them hard to watch now. Is there a way to watch an event from start to finish without getting zipped around to every event every 5 minutes (even though it is all on tape delay)? It really destroys the natural drama of sporting events. The Olympics to Commercials ratio is just way off. I want to watch them but find it frustrating the way it is presented. 1

Then when the actual draft took place, he offered "proof" when Fredette was picked #10 and Kawhi went #15 and was subsequently traded by the Pacers to the Spurs. Maybe he meant he'll have a more successful Chinese career?
