Prevalence of Meditation Related Adverse Effects From Population Sample in US

Recommended Posts

This statement in the bottom of the abstract says it all:

Quote

Participants reporting MRAE were equally glad to have practiced meditation as those not reporting MRAE. Additional correlates of MRAE were identified in exploratory analyses.

In other words, correlation does not equal causality. The 1/3 who reported some adverse effects (e.g., anxiety) really have no clue themselves that the mediation was responsible (which is probably why they were happy to have practiced as as those who did not report any adverse effects).
