FresnoFacts
Don Rickles was one of his closest friends. Two very different stage personas. RIP Bob.
Spaztecs
I'll never forget the last episode of the Newhart show as he wakes up in bed with Suzanne Pleshette. His wife from the first show. Same bedroom set and pj's as well. He looks at her and says, "You won't believe the dream I just had."  Chapeau, Bob ! 1

My parents were huge fans of Newhart, so I became a fan of his from that show, so when he showed up on TBBT, I was ecstatic.
SWspartan
I think I watched every episode of the Bob Newhart Show and then Newhart back in the 70's and 80's. And I heard on the news tonight that he was the first comedian to ever win a Grammy. And at one point he had the #1 and #2 comedy albums on the chart at the same time. Both of my parents liked Bob Newhart and that's how I was introduced to his comedy. And I loved his quick wit on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson where Newhart appeared something like twenty times over the years. And even though it was just TV and not the real thing, going to bed with Suzanne Pleshette must have fun. 😉 I thank him for all the laughs. 94 years, that's a great run! Rest in peace Bob Newhart.

That was probably the greatest end to a tv show ever. Genius! My aunt got to know him when she worked in entertainment at the casinos at Lake Tahoe in the 70's and 80's and by all accounts, he was a great person. Sad to see him go.

Sad to see him go.  I just finished reading an article that stated it was the idea of Bob's real life wife, Ginnie. She pitched it to Bob and Susanne at a party right before they began filming the final season.
