glduck Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 for football we have game threads, for basketball we have weekly threads, last year for baseball we combined college with the majors. the horror! this year, we're having our own college baseball thread. it'll be liberating. trust me. my 2015 predictions: regional locks: stanford, ucla, arizona state, oregon state, oregon. i think the pac is going to be driven by two teams who were very young last year, and should explode onto the national scene in 2015: stanford and ucla. 'furd struggled with consistency last year, but gelled late and took eventual champion vanderbilt to an elimination game in the super regionals. ucla was bad, finishing well under .500, but here's thinking that was a mere bump in the road after winning the national championship the year before. they've reloaded with a few outstanding classes built off of said national championship, and should be good to go. asu is as talented as anyone, but they remind me a little of arizona basketball right after lute olsen left. good talent, but something has been missing. oregon state has a massive rebuild job on their hands but recruits as well as anyone on the national stage and pat casey more than gets the benefit of the doubt. they've missed the postseason once in the last decade. oregon gets nowhere NEAR that same benefit of the doubt, but they've done alright for themselves, too: 40 wins and a postseason berth in 4 of the last 5 years. this is an unusual year insomuch that it looks like oregon's hitting may be asked to carry the load, but coach horton knows pitching and i don't see the weekend staff falling to shambles on his watch. on the bubble: everybody but utah and washington. sorry, utah and washington. this may be strange because washington just made the tournament last spring, but their losses were massive and i don't see anything close to above-par replacements ready to step in. everybody else in the pac-12 has something going for them, and i wouldn't be surprised to see anyone else reach the field of 64. usc and cal are ascending, wazzu underachieved at 24-30 on a team most thought would make the postseason, arizona now has three full recruiting cycles since they won the national championship and cannot POSSIBLY be as bad in 2015 as they were in 2013 and 2014.

Damage U Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Well, I just had another birthday so I'd say about another 30-40 yrs if I play my cards right...Wow, that just got a bit depressing.

ExplorerSunDevil Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 ASU is STILL trying to rebuild after the Pat Murphy sanctions Tim Esmay was essentially a placeholder coach, so he was going to be released at some point. Smith is a relatively luke-warm hire. PAC12 baseball is a completely different league than Big Ten baseball. We will see how it goes
Chile_Ute Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 If we don't finish last in baseball it will be a miracle.

Orange Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Utah has a baseball team? Hell, they can start practicing early with the little amount of snow we've been getting this year.
Scscsc89 Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 http://www.d1baseball.com/projections/2015ncaaprojection/ Six conference teams projected for the tourney: UCLA Oregon Oregon State Stanford ASU USC

Scscsc89 Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Apparently USC has brought in the left-field fence at Dedeaux field. The horror.
MrBug708 Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 UCLA had a HR last night, which was 1/8th of their total of all of last year
